Dollar Tea Club is a monthly subscription that sends loose-leaf teas in an amount that works for you. They have a few different plans to choose from and all of the teas are made without artificial flavors. The teas are ethically sourced through direct trade, which means better quality tea while knowing the farmers are payed reasonable wages and treated with respect. Subscriptions are fully customizable and can be changed anytime.

Hate waiting in line just to get your name spelled wrong? We’re on a journey to make exploring new tea blends fun for everyone.. yes, even coffee drinkers.

Everything in my recyclable mailer! I am reviewing The Explorer plan, which is $1 for 3 samples of tea, which is enough for 6-8 cups. A 3-pack of honey sticks is another $1.95, plus filters are $1 for 5. Shipping is extra. They offer two other plans: The Sensei and The Sommelier. Both plans include additional filters, a strainer with your first order, and varying amounts of tea based on which plan you choose.

When you discover a tea that you love, you can order more on the website.

I found a little packet inside.

I found 3 Dollar Tea Club Filter Bags ($1 for 5). Maybe you receive 3 in your first box? They were larger than the ones I receive in other tea subscriptions so there is plenty of room for the tea leaves to expand. You may choose to steep and strain your tea in other ways, such as with a strainer, French press, or tea maker.

Raw Canadian Honey Sticks ($1.95) You may add honey sticks to your order. This is a convenient way to carry natural sweetener with you while on-the-go.

The honey was super tasty! I simply poured it straight down my gullet.

My tea samples! I was very happy to see that they are free from artificial flavors. Each bag included the tea type, temperature of water to use, and steeping time. I had to go online to find out how much tea to use. Since this subscription originates in Canada it gave me that info in milliliters but I was able to figure out the amount to use in teaspoons thanks to Google.

Masala Chai is made of black tea, cardamom seeds, ginger pieces, cloves, cinnamon pieces, and black pepper. It said to use 5ml (about 1 teaspoon) but I like my black tea strong and since this one had spices I went ahead and used 1.5 tsps and steeped for 5 minutes.

It turned out very tasty, and wasn’t very tannic. Milk almost blunted the flavor. I used 2 tsps the next time and it was bold and delicious. I think this is a good chai for those who may not like chai, just a good, flavorful black tea.

What The Duck!?  I was happy to find an herbal blend so I could enjoy a lovely cup of tea in the evening without worrying about it keeping me up.

This blend is made with rooibos, melon pieces, rose hip seeds, currants, sultanas (aka raisins), apple pieces, aroma, sugar ducks, pomegranate petals, and mallow flower. I think it is supposed to have have duck-shaped candy inside but I don’t see that in here. It made for a fruity blend and the rooibos makes it a hearty cup.

Strawberry Shortcake has a green tea base along with pineapple pieces, flavoring, and strawberry slices.

I don’t see any strawberry slices but could definitely smell them! This was a light and flavorful cup, perfect for the afternoon when you don’t want a lot of caffeine.

I had fun discovering new teas in my very first Dollar Tea Club shipment! My cups were flavorful and didn’t taste fake and it was enough tea to see if I liked it enough to buy full-sized bags in the online shop. You can also purchase additional tea bags and tea accessories in the online shop. I like that this subscription can be customized for my tea drinking needs and I also appreciated the different caffeine levels and tea types sent.
