Birchbox Man is a monthly grooming and lifestyle subscription for men. In every shipment, you’ll receive 3-4 sample items that are smaller versions of what you can order from the Birchbox site. There are two versions – Birchbox Man Plus for $20 per month that includes a full-size lifestyle item, or regular Birchbox Man for $10 per month with no lifestyle item.

This is a review of the Birchbox Man Plus $20 per month box.

The lifestyle item often doesn’t fit in the sample box.

DEAL:For a limited time when you subscribe to Birchbox Man and use coupon code VITAMINS you’ll get a supply of hims multivitamin gummies – a $16 value!

We are greeted by the colorful info card upon opening the Birchbox Man box. We also have the sunglasses as our subscription lifestyle item.

Birchbox has always been about the samples, so if you are a stickler for calculating in-box value, you’ll have to do some math to figure the per ounce value. The cards show the price for the full-size version of the included items — they are available on the Birchbox site. You can see your box at birchbox.com/mybox.

There’s a special card for BirchBox Man tips and life hacks.

The info card identifies the 5 samples in the box. It lists the price of the full-size version available on the Birchbox site, plus a brief tip on proper use.

Here’s everything in my September 2018 box.

Bennkai Tortoise Shell Sunglasses ($20) These black wayfarer sunglasses came with a black drawstring pouch.

These shades will look awesome with any outfit. They aren’t labelled or otherwise noted as having any UV protection or polarization — I’d hope that any sunglasses put out there by BB would have some protection, but to be safe, I’d use them primarily as fashion glasses.

The front looks like a classic 1950s wayfarer, but the sides are a whole ‘nother story. Business in the front, party in the back.

Wow, these shades are groovy with the tortoiseshell temples. I suppose it can be unisex though.

Vaughn V76 Texture Clay ($3.08) It’s a hardworking clay that has a medium hold on hair with bentonite clay and beeswax that delivers lift, separation and texture while absorbing oil so that hair can have a matte finish. It is vegan, cruelty-free and free of parabens, sulfates, mineral oil, petroleum, and gluten.

Olivina Men Conditioning Shave Cream ($1.53) This luxurious shaving cream has a nice lather of foam with an all natural formula. Its scent is composed of bourbon, cedar, and vanilla. The formula also contains rich botanicals and hemp seed oil to condition skin and soften beard hairs.

CW Beggs & Sons Sensitive Skin Moisturizer ($4.80) Oil-free and hypoallergenic, this moisturizer is perfect for sensitive skin. It prevents skin irritations, soothes dry skin, and restores the skin’s balance. The formula is not tacky or sticky, and it’s easily absorbable by the skin. It can be applied twice daily or as needed after washing the face. Apply this after shaving cream to avoid razor bumps.

Marlowe Body Wash ($0.68) It’s a paraben-free and phthalate-free body wash that energizes and revitalizes skin and washes away dirt, sweat, and grime. It offers deep cleansing but not harsh on skin and it’s good for all skin types.

Malin + Goetz Grapefruit Face Cleanser ($2.25) This facial cleanser has amino acids that removes dirt, oil, and impurities. It balances skin’s ph and clears acne by having an antibacterial grapefruit that exfoliates and prevents blemishes. Other key ingredients include hydrating glycerin and sodium PCA. No need for toners as it doesn’t leave any residue. It deeply cleanses while it’s gentle for sensitive skin.

With all these grooming essentials, I can still enjoy the summer heat without worrying too much about my skin. All worth about $33 for a $20 subscription. I even got an awesome pair of sunglasses so it’s really a good deal! Having the lifestyle add-on option has kept this subscription exciting, and I look forward to the next one!
