This is kinda late but I think it’s important. I currently have 9 beauty box subscriptions. I just cancelled Tribe, as soon as I got August box. The items were ok but nothing great & nothing I would buy. It’s $40 which is one the more expensive boxes, it should have better quality products. I only got this box because it’s a woman owned woman operated company & I support that. But that’s kinda what makes me mad, woman should curate the best box, but this fell all the way to bottom, even below my $10 sub boxes. Very disappointing.
I don’t understand how a Canadian based company charges a higher shipping fee to ship within Canada than to the United States??? I also don’t understand how I was billed USD when I am in Canada and buying from a Canadian company?? This better be one hell of a box!!!
Hi Jill! I review the Canadian boxes (though not Tribe at this point) and I can hopefully offer some insight to your first question. Shipping within Canada is actually more expensive than shipping to the United States (and some cases even internationally). This is Canada Post’s bizarre logic, and to this day I don’t understand how it works. I live in Vancouver, and to ship something to Ontario is going to cost me around $18. To ship that same package to New York costs me $11. (This situation happened to me last week while sending out some swap packages). Vancouver to Vancouver is cheaper, but it is still around $9, and increases the further the distance is. Again, this is completely the fault of Canada Post being operated by the Crown (ie: MONEY! PROFIT!) and not privately managed like the USPS. I never hold it against a Canadian box for charging the correct shipping, even if it is $20, because it’s just something they can’t afford to take a loss on. There are other options like UPS but I haven’t seen a lot of boxes use that except for same-day delivery subscriptions like Chef’s Plate which are delivering fresh ingredients.
Tribe said this box was going to be great. So far, it sounds amazing!!!
