Freshly delivers deliciously healthy food right to your door – premade, prepackaged, and never frozen. This is a great subscription for people who want to spend less (i.e. no) time cooking but still want healthy foods. Freshly meals are free of gluten, refined sugars, and artificial ingredients. When you sign up for Freshly, you’ll be able to select the number of meals you want per week plus the exact meals you want. You’re able to skip weeks right from your account.

The food comes in a refrigerated box, surrounded by ice packs, and snuggled up in an insulated blanket made from recycled denim. The insulation and the rest of the packing are all recyclable. Since it’s biodegradable, I am considering putting it in my compost pile and/or using it as mulch!

These were the biggest ice packs I’ve ever seen! I’ve placed those in my chest freezer to be used in my ice chest. The ice packs were still frozen solid when they got here.

My meals went straight into the fridge. For best results, do not freeze.

I found a list of all the meals in my box.

In the bottom of the box I found a brochure on what makes Freshly unique.

I picked 6 meals out of the 30 options, and there were even a few breakfasts available too.

The meals came in cardboard wrappers with info all over, even on the inside of the box!

I found nutrition information, ingredients, allergy warnings, and heating instructions on the back of the box.

Each box had a “best by” date.

The underside of the wrappers have mini-essays on nutrition and wellness.

Finally, each meal had a serving suggestion. Everybody has different tastes so they were mainly just hints on how to improve flavor.

Here is what the cod cakes looked like before heating. It was very easy to heat, just cut a slash on opposite sides of the plastic and place in the microwave for a couple of minutes. Use a knife to cut off the rest of the plastic.

Here is what it looks like if you are eating at work.

Here is what it looks like when plating it yourself. You know how a microwave meal rarely looks like the picture on the box? Well, this is not the same at all. It looks delicious! The cod was smokey with a kick of chipotle, the tang of vinegar, and maybe a hint of thyme.

Next was Grilled Chicken Risotto.

Oh my gosh, the risotto was so creamy and the peas were cooked perfectly. A nice complement to the grilled chicken.

This was the only beef dinner that I chose this week. There are vegetarian offerings and even some with pork, shrimp, and turkey.

The steak was tender with grilled flavor and the vegetables were very tasty. I was worried it would be overly spicy from the pepper but nope, it was perfect.

I shared each of these meals with my kids and this was my oldest daughter’s favorite.

The sauce had a nice, tangy flavor, I loved the chunks of sweet potato, and I had never tried quinoa before. It was chewy and mixed well with the wild rice.

I looked forward to trying this one the most since Thanksgiving was a while ago!

It did not disappoint! The roasted Brussels sprouts had mushrooms and bacon while the turkey was tender. The maple sweetened apples were a nice touch and the sweet potatoes were fluffy and so good.

The last meal was a Chicken Pilaf.

The vegetables were seasoned perfectly and the pilaf was so tasty and had the perfect mouth feel. The chicken was cooked just right.

I was so impressed with my very first Freshly shipment! The meals were fresh and tasty and they were all extremely yummy. The portion sizes were very generous and I always felt satisfied. The sodium levels hovered around 25% which was good, and I didn’t feel the need to add anything to make the meals more palatable. The presentation and tips were helpful and I was just pleased overall with the entire experience.

I love Freshly. There have been a few meals in the past that I wasn’t happy with, but most have been excellent. Their customer service is outstanding, too – I had a problem with my last shipment (one meal I ordered wasn’t in it and a different meal I don’t care for was instead) and I got a response from them in the middle of a Friday night, within a couple hours of sending an email, with an immediate credit toward my next order. I wish I could afford to get it every week.
