There is not much to these boxes since they are just your books with a bit of paper to keep them from shifting all around and that’s about it.

My February Blind Date books, The Gates of Evangeline by Hester Young ($6.32) and House Witch by Katie Schickel ($4.00). This month I got two hardback books.

The books are listed on the back of the bookmark with a little quote or blurb about the book.

The Gates of Evangeline by Hester Young ($6.32) – Southern Gothic and I’m hooked already. I will say just look at the cover. This is a book I would pick up if I saw it on the shelf to check it out. I almost want to have it on its side so that I can see all the trees in their glory. I love the look of the bayou and the mist coming off it and well this just suites the bill. I do hate to read that these abilities come from the loss of her child but that is a great catalyst for changes and the strong desire to help.

From a unique new talent comes a fast-paced debut, introducing a heroine whose dark visions bring to light secrets that will heal or destroy those around her . . .

When New York journalist and recently bereaved mother Charlotte “Charlie” Cates begins to experience vivid dreams about children in danger, she’s sure that she’s lost her mind. Yet these are not the nightmares of a grieving parent. They are warnings that will help Charlie and the children she sees, if only she can make sense of them.

After a little boy in a boat appears in Charlie’s dreams, asking for her help, she finds herself entangled in a world-famous thirty-year-old missing-child case that has never ceased to haunt Louisiana’s prestigious Deveau family. Armed with an invitation to Evangeline, the family’s sprawling estate, Charlie heads south, where new friendships and an unlikely romance with the estate’s landscape architect—the warm and handsome Noah Palmer—begin to heal her grief-stricken heart. But as she uncovers long-buried secrets of love, money, betrayal, and murder, the facts begin to implicate those she most wants to trust—and her visions reveal an evil closer than she could have imagined.

A Southern Gothic mystery debut that combines literary suspense and romance with a mystical twist, THE GATES OF EVANGELINE is a story that readers of Gillian Flynn, Kate Atkinson, and Alice Sebold won’t be able to put down.

House Witch by Katie Schickel ($4.00) – I’m all about a witch story and then to have one on a coastal community in a suburban mom world and I’m just laughing. I can see this one as a TV show already so I can’t wait to see how it plays out.

Allison Darling, former foster child, now a stay-at-home mom of three, desperately wants to fit in with the organic latte drinking, hundred-dollar-yoga-pants-wearing moms who run Monrovia, her charming seaside village. Constantly feeling like an outsider, Allison dreams of more for her children.

When the Glamour Girls, a soap-selling company run by the most charismatic and powerful women in town, recruits Allison, she jumps at the invitation. The Glamor Girls have a hand in everything in Monrovia, from bake sales to business deals. This is what Allison’s wanted her whole life―to be liked.

To be popular. To belong. After Allison’s estranged mother passes away, she learns her family’s heartbreaking legacy and the secret Allison’s been fighting to suppress all her life emerges: she’s a witch. What’s more, she’s not the only one in town. There’s more to the Glamour Girls then it seems… and once you’re a Glamour Girl, there’s no going back.

Allison must use her rediscovered magic to defend Monrovia, protect her marriage and her children, and reclaim her legacy. Fighting tooth and nail for her family is easy, but what about for herself? Is it too late to confront her own demons and become the woman she dreams of being?

And as an added bonus this month we got an autographed book! How exciting is that?

BookCase.Club sends a box with new books each month and they are always some that I would not find on my own. While they are not the newest releases I enjoy that since they are introducing me to new authors and fringe genres to my normal Paranormal Romance which is increasing my range. The covers of both of the books this month are already sucking me in and I’ll be reading these to see how both the mom’s kick some butt.
