First peek!

I received 2 full-sized products from Honua Hawaiian Skincare!

For January the spotlight was on Honua Hawaiian Skincare, whose products are “GMO/Cruelty/ Paraben, Chemical & Gluten Free.” This is a new-to-me brand, and they currently offer only 7 products, so I was very happy to try two of them!

Mama Honua (Mother Earth) is the heart of our company, the foundation where our botanicals are born. The ancient Hawaiians believed it was our duty to care for the land which takes care of us. Our name gives credit to her. Honua Hawaiian Skincare shares with the world a new approach to skincare through traditional methodologies and Hawaiian healing botanicals.

The back of the introductory card listed each product, its retail value, and how to use each item. I like that Pearlesque also includes their own #pearltip for the products.

Everything in my January Pearlesque Box!

Aloha Youth Serum ($58) “DISCOVER HAWAI’I’S SECRET FOR YOUTHFUL SKIN…
A luminous serum created from a beautiful blend of unique Hawaiian botanicals
designed to hydrate, smooth, brighten, tighten and nourish the skin. Leaves skin dewy and fresh.”

I would like to start by saying how much I liked the packaging of this product. The box opened up and had all kinds of info on the inside and outside, such as the meaning of aloha spirit.

It also gave directions for “The Ritual” – or how best to apply the product. It mentioned applying an oil over top, so I went ahead and chose one that I’ve already been using, although the one offered by Honua has turmeric and sounds perfect for reducing redness.

The all-natural ingredients were clearly listed on the box and I didn’t see any skin offenders mentioned. The various extracts are supposed to tighten, brighten, and heal the skin while promoting hydration and the production of skin plumpers.

The directions said to use a pea-sized amount, which I spread across my cleansed face. My skin quickly absorbed this serum, which is creamy but not oily. Definitely use a moisturizer on top. The serum smells like straight-up ylang ylang, and I love it.

‘Aina Mask ($38) “Hawaiian Food for your face. The spotlight ingredient is our beloved Kalo (Taro) a staple in Hawaii that is filled with skin loving vitamins and nutrients. This mask also contains some detoxifying Coconut Charcoal, stimulating Ni’oi (Hawaiian Chili Pepper), hydrating and healing Hawaiian honey and more. You will love the results.”

This new item isn’t out until February, but I was so happy to get this now, in the dead of winter!

I couldn’t find the full list of ingredients but some of the main ones listed are honey, bamboo charcoal, and turmeric, which is an excellent anti-inflammatory. I applied this creamy mask with my hands and worked it in. It has ni’oi – a Hawaiian chili pepper – but I didn’t feel any burning or stinging at all. I left it on for 15 minutes before jumping in the shower to rinse off. I usually experience drying and a ton of uncomfortable skin-tightening with traditional masks but this one, while it did dry completely, never pulled my skin. I thought my skin felt much softer after I rinsed.

Another awesome Pearlesque Box! I enjoyed learning about a company that was new-to-me, and I was very impressed with the products and they were very natural (as far as I could tell, short of the full ingredients list for the mask, but their other products all were clean!). My skin absorbed the youth serum very quickly and I thought it smelled wonderful, plus I hope to see some anti-aging effect in the next month or two! The mask was perfect for my skin, and I loved that it didn’t irritate my skin and left it feeling soft and smooth, no easy task in January. I love that Pearlesque sends such large sizes so I can get a feel for a brand, and I hope to see Honua products in a future box!

FYI – February’s box will feature items from Luxe Botanics!
