Comic Bento is a monthly comic book subscription service that delivers graphic novels and comics each month. This is a great value because every month, you’ll receive at least $50 in books.

Special care is given to each box. To keep the books from jostling about, Comic Bento has all books packed together in plastic with cardboard to keep everything straight.

Four books from multiple publishers. Comic Bento did well including some with their offering this month.

Comic Bento includes a 2-sided card that gives you some insight into the books they sent. They also give some backstory as to why they chose the books within the subscription box.

Comic Bento is great at providing variety while sticking to their theme.

Tumor – Oni Press – I enjoy a black and white comic, especially when it has darker undertones like this book has.

Private investigator Frank Armstrong barely scrapes by in the Los Angeles underbelly until “the big one” hits his desk. Locate and retrieve the daughter of a drug kingpin, and he can finally afford more than the one-dollar meatloaf. Unfortunately, the job offer arrives just as the symptoms of his fatal, late-stage brain tumor intensify. Frank must find the target and keep her safe while time collapses, family turns into foe, and the specter of his murdered wife resurfaces in the eyes of a mobster’s daughter.

Eisner, Harvey, and Emmy nominated writer Joshua Hale Fialkov joins Harvey and Eisner nominated artist Noel Tuazon in their second thrilling collaboration about the bittersweet joy of lost love and the sharp pain of redemption.

Van Helsing VS. The Mummy of Amun-Ra – Zenescope – Cover Price $19.99 – The Steam Punk-ish look is pretty cool.  Zenescope loves to make scantily clad strong female leads.

She’s faced countless vampires including Dracula himself…she’s defeated monsters that defy the imagination including Frankenstein…but now she’s about to face her greatest challenge. This time Liesel Van Helsing must travel back through time to ancient Egypt to battle an enemy that has returned for vengeance…the Mummy of Amun-Ra.

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story – Marvel Comics – $19.99 cover price. Marvel does an incredible job with their Star Wars books. I am looking forward to reading this book!

Collects Rogue One Adaptation #1-6, Star Wars: Rogue One – Cassian & K-2SO Special.

The Rebellion is here! The Rogue One crew makes the leap from the big screen to the comic-book page in this action-packed adaptation! All looks lost for the galaxy when the Empire’s new super-weapon is discovered. Any insurgency will quickly be thwarted by the devastating new Death Star! But maybe there’s hope for the Rebel cause when Jyn Erso and Cassian Andor lead a crew of new heroes on a desperate mission to steal the plans to the planet-destroying threat! A crucial tale in the Star Wars saga is told at last! Plus: In an all-new story, flash back to the ill-tempered first meeting between Cassian and scene-stealing droid K-2SO!

Conan and the Songs of the Dead – Dark Horse Comics – $14.95. Conan has been a part of the comic book world for a long time. Multiple companies have had the rights to make Conan books and now we have the Dark Horse version.

The Cimmerian travels to the aid of an old ally in the wretched wastes of Stygia — a desert harboring wealth undreamed of, even for the barbarian. Soon his pursuit of the ancient treasure reveals a conniving spirit and undead guards. Dust from the desolate land meets blood, and a dark-hearted sorcerer brings forth strange abominations from this unholy mix. Only the cool head and cold steel of the Cimmerian can save all creation from the horror that awaits, and the blood-spattered conclusion will send shivers down the spines of even the most hardcore Conan fans!

Comic Bento is such an awesome value! All four of these books were packaged well together and arrived in spectacular condition. As stated earlier, there is a theme but there’s also a ton of variety, and the theming of this box is pretty unique amongst comic subscriptions. The curator’s notes really bring the theme together, and that made this box even more awesome!

What did you think of this month’s Comic Bento theme?
