Barkbox is a monthly subscription box just for dogs. Each box has 4-6 dog products and are customized to the size of your pup, plus it has a cute theme that you and your dog will get a kick out of.

This Barkbox is for small dogs like our miniature schnauzers, Lindy and Dean, but you can get them for medium and large dogs too — check out our Barkbox reviews for a peek at the big dog boxes! NEW: the heavy chewer box!

DEAL: You can get a $10 credit to the Barkshop with your Barkbox subscription with promo code MS10X1213.

The theme of this month’s box was BARK UNIVERSITY! The information cards came in an envelope addressed to “The Lucky Pup,” with a letter on Bark University stationary.

The envelope contained an acceptance letter from the Dean of Admissions.

BarkBox always does a great job of making the box decor and treat and toy selections fit the theme. This month’s custom paper features college-bound pups.

It’s always lots of fun!

Just for fun, they included a course “dogalog” with all the offerings this semester.

The info card shows various premium toy possibilities from which yours was selected.

The flip side of the wrapping paper is a Bark University pennant, complete with the school motto, “Bonus Canis.”

And here are this month’s cute dog items!

BarkPack ($6): A plush, crinkly-stuffed, chew-toy backpack that looks just like the real thing. I love the embroidered ΠΥΠ, or “PUP,” in Greek letters.

the other side even has straps, though they are far too small to wear. Sewn inside is a ball, making the bag even more fun to throw or chomp on.

Greek life!

Pop A Chewski ($8): In accordance with the theme of rigorous academics, one of the toys is a beer can squeaky chew. The can itself is soft and plush.

The four-pack ring is made of durable, seamed nylon webbing, making it super tough for vigorous chewers. They even sewed a pop-top design into the top of the can!

Dean is ready to party!

Happy Howie’s Beef Jerky Treats ($4): Made in the U.S.A. from real beef, this big strip of meat is a giant treat for a little dog. Two big strips come in the bag.

Beef is the first ingredient!

Cheesy Furrito Treats ($8): Cheesy pea-based snacks for your dog. They are nice and small — perfect for frequent treating or training.

The bag has a number to text to receive instructions on teaching your dog to perform a new trick, the “cheesy furrito.”

Bocce’s Bakery Rewards Chicken Treats: Every dog deserves a reward! These adorable, heart-shaped treats are made with real chicken and buckwheat flour.

My dogs loved these treats, but they are very crumbly, so many broke into powder in the bag.

Barkbox is so much fun, and they do a fantastic job of picking themes and bringing them to life. No one else does as much in the way of box decor, toy selection, and treat design and packaging, to impart a theme to a pet subscription. The toys are rugged and adorably suited to the theme, and the treats are always made of good stuff. I can never wait to see what theme they come up with, because the realization is always so spot-on.
