TokyoTreat is a Japanese treat box that is shipped directly from Japan. TokyoTreat has three levels of boxes, which seems to be the norm with snack boxes. Shipping is included with the boxes ($14.99 for mini, $24.99 for regular, $34.99 for premium). For their third year, TokyoTreat has revamped their box — it’s bigger in height and width but is shallower than the old box.

The TokyoTreat magazine includes the product information as well as information on Japanese culture, the monthly giveaway, instructions for the DIY kit, and other features.

Most of the popular snack boxes have this sort of tiered system with three levels of size!

Here’s what’s included in the small box!

Mandarin Gummies — Mandarin-flavoured gummy candies. They taste spot-on!

Bake Coriander Chocolate — I don’t really mix my herbs with chocolate… this was a bit too weird for me. Bake chocolates are great though, I’ve tried a few flavours. You can put them in the freezer in the summer. They are very crumbly.

Edamame Pretz — This bag was FULL of sticks! Pretz is Pocky’s more savoury sister. These are flavoured with edamame (soy bean) and were delicious.

Dagashi Bag — A bag of randomly chosen sweet, sour, and savoury snacks! This bag is tricky if you can’t read Japanese. I can read a bit, and the pictures help. Some of the treats were duplicates of last month’s, which was a bit disappointing… but that’s why it’s random!

The regular box includes all of the above, plus:

White Chocolate Choco-Bar — A giant corn snack covered in white chocolate. This was really good! The corn puff was lightly salted which complemented the chocolate nicely.

Cream Soda Caramel Corn — I find that these snacks are starting to all taste the same. They’re very sweet but it’s hard to discern any real difference between them flavours.

Corn Potage Snack — Puffed corn that tastes exactly like creamed corn. Oddly tasty.

Calpis Pineapple Candies — Calpis is a popular yoghurt drink, and these candies have Calpis in them as well as pineapple. They’re creamy and delicious!

Niigata Chewy Senbei — I was excited about this spoiler — rice crackers soaked in soy sauce right after baking to infuse them with flavour. Unfortunately, I couldn’t get over the texture — they just felt soggy and weird.

And finally, the premium box, which includes everything in the small and regular, plus:

Picola Mango Cream Sticks — These were SOOOO good! They are those sugar cookie tubes but had a mango cream inside them.

Chocobi Melon Flavour — Corn snacks with a melon flavour. I don’t like honeydew/canteloupe melon flavoured things so I didn’t try these personally.

Dinosaur Pudding Kit — From the makers behind the butt pudding a few months ago is this similar dino-themed kit! Create mountain shaped puddings then add strawberry “lava” to the volcano!

Salty Litchi Drink — I love the packaging for this drink. It’s a salty, fruity flavour that is very refreshing. I would love to have more of this!

And as a bonus we were sent a beautiful traditional Japanese fan. I love the image of a mountain on mine. Lovely!

This month’s Tokyo Treat was strong on the corn snacks — this is due to the potato shortage in Hokkaido. I definitely miss the tasty chips TT usually includes. But they make up for it with other awesome snacks and I loved the very appropriate fan as an extra this month!
