NewBeauty TestTube is a beauty subscription box filled with 10+ deluxe and full-sized luxury beauty products plus a subscription to NewBeauty Magazine, delivered quarterly. This subscription is $29.95 plus shipping and is delivered every other month. NBTT recently made some changes and now says that they offer “beauty solutions” that will help solve our biggest makeup, skin, hair, and body concerns.

DEAL: Save $9 on your first box! No coupon needed, the discount will automatically be applied at checkout.

Everything in my box! NBTT promises 10 or more full-sized and deluxe sample-sized products and at least $150 value.

The product information booklet is very detailed and lists the problem, solution, retail price, and insight from the editors.

Each item has a full-out description, including tips, the problem it solves, and the solution this particular product provides. Not all products in the tube are in the booklet, and there may be variations with the additional products.

Diane Oval Wire Pin Cushion Brush ($3.99) A purse-sized brush is always so handy! This one has tipped metal bristles to protect your scalp.

The plastic handle has a nice swirly marble pattern in a blush color. It’s pretty!

Miss Spa Deep Wrinkle Hydrogel Eye Treatment ($6.99) Turn crinkles into twinkles! Too cute!

These deeply hydrating hydrogel patches are sulfate-, paraben- and fragrance free, and include sodium hyaluronate for plumping and caviar, aloe, sage, chamomile, and other botanical extracts to help reduce lines.  They’re meant to be a whopping 45 minute treatment. I wasn’t sure if I could last that long, but I did, and I felt that my crows eyes totally looked better. These eye patches seemed a lot less slippery than other similar patches.

Hair Food Hair Milk Cleansing Conditioner Infused With Jasmine & Vanilla Fragrance ($10) This is a nice hefty bottle!

The scent is nice – jasmine and vanilla – and is paraben, mineral oil, gluten and dye free. It does have dimethicone if build-up is a concern for you. As a cleansing conditioner you can use the same product once or twice to both cleanse and condition. (Basically it’s like Wen.) For me it didn’t give my hair a lot of volume, but it was super soft. I’ll give it a few more days on the try-out circuit!

This is kind of neat, as long as you’re one of the first 1,000! You can post a review at Target (or on Instagram or Facebook) and send proof to Hair Food and get a full size set of Hair Milk Shampoo & Conditioner! Must use #HairFood @Hairfood #promotion in your post!

Luzern La Defense Urban Protect Daily Moisturizer ($16)

Luzern La Defense Urban Protect Detox Mask ($2.88)

This set contains TWO products, and one’s hidden in the box – be sure to fish it out! The moisturizer is designed to neutralize environmental effects and protect against both blue light (!) and pollution.  It sounded a little hokey, but their website says:

  • LUTEIN protects skin against damage caused by free radicals generated by blue-light. Blue-light from both natural light and man-made light emitted from computers, televisions, and smart phone screens, passes the skin membrane causing skin damage similar to that caused by UV rays, such as wrinkles and age spots.
  • POLYPHENOLS and GINSENOSIDES offer powerful anti-oxidant protection against free radicals and create a protective skin barrier against toxins from settling into pores. This inhibits inflammation and collagenase enzyme activity, reducing collagen damage to help maintain elasticity and skin flexibility.
  • VITAMIN C AND ORGANIC CAMAPU EXTRACT work together to reduce melanin synthesis from sun and stress to improve luminosity and even out skin tone.
  • HYALURONIC ACID, L-ARGININE, and PANTHENOL increase surface moisture to promote perfect skin hydration and help protect skin from irritation.

The mask is designed to absorb impurities, and both products are free of the “Toxic 12.” Although the claims seemed really wild, after checking them out and using them, I’m more than happy to use up my entire sample!

ColorScience Sunforgettable Brush-On Sunscreen SPF 50 – in Medium ($21.33)

This is the most unusual sunscreen I’ve ever seen – it’s a powder sunscreen!

This powder sunscreen comes with a built-in brush.

The box says to apply to moisturized skin, but you can also buff it in on top of makeup. It takes a few minutes of brushing to start releasing the powder, and then you can apply and brush it in. It took a few tries for me to manage the powder release properly, but I think it works well and it has a nice water resistant finish.  It reminds me a lot of just using Bare Minerals foundation, but I really like this mini on the go product. Plus, I have a strong preference for mineral sunscreen on my face due to sensitivities.

Marula Oil Rare Oil Style Perfecting Serum ($28) This full-sized hair serum helps tackles flyaways and frizzies with cold-pressed marula oil!

The serum is super lightweight and didn’t weigh my hair down at all while taming it and shining it up a bit.

Skin & Co. Truffle Therapy Boosting Anti-Aging Facial Serum ($11.9) This skin serum smells so good!

The full-size product looks like a 2-phase product but this is more like a thin lotion (it’s white). You really do need a moisturizer after, my skin felt tight after application. The truffle therapy infuses your skin with antioxidants and nutrients to help combat the signs of aging.

Bio Oil ($2) This product has a lot of fans but Bio Oil doesn’t make any specific claims about Purcellin oil (their “breakthrough ingredient”). I tend to think if it really worked on stretch marks it would be too expensive to afford! But this is a nice way to test if it works for you and this product has a lot of fans.

I think it’s hydrating and just plumps the skin, thereby “improving the appearance” of marks.

This is a repeat product from September 2015.

Cailyn Dizzolv’It Makeup Melt Cleansing Balm ($4.68) This is a cool product! It’s a cream-to-oil balm and you massage it in to help melt all your makeup off, then cleanse. It uses aloe and calendula to help heal skin and vitamin C from Acerola to brighten and papaya enzymes to promote skin renewal – I love that it has extra benefits besides just getting clean!

Repeat from January 2016.

Farmhouse Fresh Shea Butter Hand Cream ($14) And finally, a nice tube of Pink Moon shea butter hand cream from Farmhouse Fresh – love this brand!

This hand cream is paraben-free, vegan, and cruelty-free. The spun sugar/cotton candy scent is strongest, with notes of powdered musk and licorice blossom. I absolutely love it! Plus it’s pink and stands up so it’s pretty!

This box had a value of about $122! For less than $40 shipped I think that’s a great value. I felt this tube was a little heavy on the deluxe and travel sizes – the mini brush and the eye gels are technically full-size single products, but I always feel those go into the deluxe size category for me (especially the gels!). I felt this box was pretty similar to a BeautyFIX box, with the addition of some nice full-size products. My favorites are the handcream and the powder sunscreen but there’s a lot to like about this box – lots of good high-quality products to test out and plenty of time to do it with a bimonthly shipping schedule!
