Betoyo Bento is a anime box shipping out of Hong Kong. This is the January box but it was shipped February 2. This subscription has apparently had some pains recently and there have been reports of bootleg items being included in past boxes. I did some research on YouTube and this delay has become the norm; one of the people who founded the box left and so it’s one person trying to manage everything now. The box is $28 USD a month with $5 shipping on top. No information card is included and the box is plain and came in the large bag pictured below.

Everything in my box!

Hatsune Miku Bag Vocaloid, for people not familiar, is a sound bank program. It contains every syllable in the Japanese language in a variety of voices, which people use to compose their own music and songs. Miku is the most popular of the Vocaloids, though I prefer Megurine Luka myself (she’s voiced by one of my favorite seiyuu (voice actresses), Asakawa Yuu). Miku has opened for Lady Gaga and has concerts in Japan even though she’s just a holographic image. World is Mine is my favorite Miku song! This bag is HUGE and is like the bags given out at anime conventions. This one is even better because it has a zipper on it, which is handy for keeping all your loot from the artist alley secure while you shop and cosplay!

Attack on Titan Coin Purse Attack on Titan is probably the hottest anime in Japan (and America) lately. It’s deliciously gory and creepy and I swear some of the titans gave me nightmares after I marathoned it. The new season is starting soon. The coin purse features Jean and Armin, two of the main characters.

The Idolmaster Cleaning Cloth The Idolmaster was originally a rhythm game for your mobile phone that lets you train potential idols to gain points and high scores. It’s become so popular there’s an anime series and other media. This is a nice thin cloth that would be handy for cleaning your smartphone or glasses. I always find these handy.

One Piece Figure I am pretty sure this bear is from One Piece, the logo on his jacket looks familiar. I have no way of knowing if this is authentic.

Phone Charm No information card means I have no idea who this character is.

School Idol Project Figure This little figure wouldn’t stand up correctly on her stand which I couldn’t put together. This is usually a sign of a bootleg, and the box looks pretty poorly made as did the packaging inside.

I can’t recommend this box. The delay was unacceptable, the quality of the items is questionable, and for only a few dollars more you could get a subscription that sends licensed items in a timely manner like Loot Anime or any other anime subscription box we have reviewed here. I’ve done some digging into the history of this box and it’s sad to see it declining but if a subscription box founder feels like the box is dying, it is better business practice to shut it down and issue refunds rather than just wait for people to drop off. This is especially worrying as there is no communication on the website anywhere that they have been having issues.
