TokyoTreat is a Japanese treat box that is shipped directly from Japan. TokyoTreat has three levels of boxes, which seems to be the norm with snack boxes. Shipping is included with the boxes ($14.99 for mini, $24.99 for regular, $34.99 for premium).

The TokyoTreat magazine is read right to left like Japanese books and comics. It includes the product information as well as information on Japanese culture, the monthly giveaway, instructions for the DIY kit, and other features.

Most of the popular snack boxes have this sort of tiered system with three levels of size!

Here’s what’s included in the small box!

Super Ottotto Savoury Soy Sauce. Potato snacks shaped like sea animals! These have a strong soy sauce flavor and are super salty and crunchy.

Samurai Japan Chips.  Plain salted potato chips, but they come with a baseball trading card! How cool.

Milk Choco Anpan. Anpan are small bread pastries that are usually more savory (i.e., red bean filling) – these are tiny cute mini versions and are filled with condensed milk for a sweeter version!

Sour Plum Fortune Candy. This small bag of candy includes normal sour plum candies and one VERY sour candy. I was not lucky, the first one I tried was so sour my eyes crossed.

Kinako Black Thunder. A kinako-flavored Black Thunder! I love kinako so I was excited to try this. I think I prefer kinako without chocolate, this didn’t really blend well for me.

Pikachu Gummies. Pokemon gummies! These are going to my Pokemon-obsessed friend.

Bonus Candy. All boxes received an extra candy this month to celebrate the new year! My kit was gummy sushi you could assemble.

The regular box includes all of the above, plus:

Neru Neru DIY Kit. This kit is pure sugar in theory, but I love it so much I get excited when I see it. You mix two types of sugar mix with water to turn it from liquid into a fluffy whipped candy, and then cover it with sprinkles. It looks so unappetizing but it’s so fun.

Frog Gummies. Grape and apple flavored gummies in frog and tadpole shapes.

Choco Monaka. Monaka is usually made of red bean paste inside of a wafer. This version has chocolate – I’ve had it before, and it’s soooo good. The chocolate is aerated and fluffy like an Aero bar.

Fizzy Candy Stick. Inside this soft taffy-like stick of orange and lemon is a fizzy powder that makes the whole thing turn into cola flavour. It’s so weird!

Here’s a picture of the monaka – isn’t it cute?

And finally, the premium box, which includes everything in the small and regular, plus:

Rich Taste Calpis Soda. I love Calpis, though it’s a bit strange looking! I received this in a previous review and I described it as milky Sprite – this new limited edition version has a creamier texture (while still being carbonated) and a stronger lemon lime flavour.

Sheet Mask. These elaborately decorated sheet masks are the signs of the Chinese zodiac. I got a dragon! (I was born in the year of the ox!)

Butter Pretz Pretz is the savoury version of Pocky, pretzel biscuit sticks with flavouring. These are a simple butter flavour and I love them. They’re so good!

Pokemon Stick Candy Two flavoure of crunchy candy sticks — orange and ramune/soda. These are sticky and get stuck to your teeth but they are so good!

Alfort Red Bean Flavour. Alfort cookies look so pretty. They are a chocolate piece on top of a vanilla biscuit. Because the packaging is so pretty, I’m going to actually be gifting these to a friend of mine! I love how classic they are.

One Piece Chocolate Wafer. This is a waffle print wafer with chocolate in between. It features characters from the anime One Piece, which I never got into.

I love Tokyo Treat – they really have got the balance of a good snack box down. There’s always a good mix of savory and sweet, and the added drink and DIY are my favorite parts to try each month!
