Roost Crate gives back to their community by partnering with Capital Roots to give a portion of their proceeds to local farmers and vendors. They included a card that shows how you can win a free box by sharing your photos on social media.

Roost Crate sends 4-6 items each month such as jams, honey, sauces, snacks, candles, soaps & scrubs, unique home & kitchen items, and coffee & teas. I loved the variety of items that was included in this box and couldn’t wait to give them a try!

There was a card introducing the monthly theme, which was “Breakfast in Bed.” Love it!

The flip side of the card had the product information, value, and a short bio about each company featured, and announced the next month’s theme. Ooohh, honey products next month! Sweet!

Let’s start with the awesomely scented Weird Beard Candle Co. in Saturday Morning Cartoons II ($7.95). I burned this 4-ounce Cap’n Crunch Berries scented candle one evening and the next morning my living room still smelled delicious. This soy-based candle burned true and had a great throw.

T and J Soaps Handcrafted Coffee Kitchen Soap ($5.50) The first of 4 items revolving around coffee is an exfoliating soap that can rev both your skin and your senses. I used it in the shower and enjoyed the invigorating scent and mild scrubbiness of the ground coffee beans. This can also be used as a hand soap and the smell isn’t overpowering, just sweet and comforting.

I’m not a coffee drinker so I passed along this bag of Lucy Jo’s Coffee Roastery in Brainstorm Medium Dark Roast ($6.63) to my husband. This low-acid coffee is organic but I think my hubby prefers a bolder blend as it wasn’t strong enough for his tastes.

If you’re in the Troy, NY area you can drop into the Anchor No.5 Boutique for handmade items such as this Custom Coffee Collar Cozy ($12). This is meant to replace those cardboard cup sleeves that you find on your morning cup of java.

The inside had a contrasting pattern in a complementary color and I believe it can be turned inside out and used either way. Your choice! If you are in dire need of something similar, you can click here for an Etsy page with coffee sleeves.

I may not drink much coffee except for the occasional Starbucks dessert-like frou-frou stuff, but I love chocolate covered coffee beans. Barkeater Chocolates Espresso Beantown Bold ($3) is like they ground up those chocolate covered beans and put them in bar form. There’s smooth dark chocolate and a little grit from the beans and it makes for a great taste sensation.

What’s breakfast in bed without food? Roost Crate sent Lodgical Creations Blueberry Buckaroo Gluten Free Blueberry Pancake Mix ($7) to help start the day.

This gluten-free mix has a blend of flours as a base and includes dried blueberries.

Just add your own fresh ingredients and cook them up. Place on a plate and go crawl back into bed and have the kids do the dishes.

I loved my “breakfast in bed” themed box this month! I thought Roost Crate put a lot of thought and detail into each item and they all fit the theme perfectly. The January box had a value of $42.08, which means it hit their promised target value, too. Some of these items can be ordered online, but others are only available in the NY area. If you like natural and delicious products that you might discover while wandering the farmer’s market, then give Roost Crate a try and let me know what you think of this box in the comments!
