Special care is given to each box. To keep the books from jostling about, Comic Bento uses air cushioning and has all books packed together in plastic with cardboard to keep everything straight.

Five books from four different publishers. Comic Bento did well including some hot items to their offering this month.

187

Comic Bento includes a 2-sided card that gives you some insight into the books they sent. They also give some backstory as to why they chose the books within the subscription box. This month’s theme is REMEMBER THE TITANS!

Comic Bento is great at providing variety while sticking to their theme.

Hulk: Season One – Marvel Comics – Hardcover – $24.99. The Hulk is the first comic book character that comes to mind when I think of when I hear “larger the life” in the world of sequential art stories.

New York Times bestseller Fred Van Lente (Amazing Spider-Man) and acclaimed artist Tom Fowler (Venom) retell the beginnings of The Green Goliath for a new generation! The defi nitive origin of The Hulk — as well as Betty Ross — now Red She-Hulk — General Thunderbolt Ross — now the Avenging Red Hulk! The Gamma Base, Rick Jones, and the introduction of an all-new Hulk villain that will continue to haunt both him and his alter ego, Dr. Bruce Banner, in present continuity!

As an added value for the customer, each MARVEL: SEASON ONE graphic novel will be shrinkwrapped with a code for a FREE digital copy of the story on the Marvel Comics app.

COLLECTING: HULK: SEASON ONE 1-5, INCREDIBLE HULK (2011)

Kaijumax: Season One – ONI Press – $9.99. I love the idea behind this book; a corrupt maximum security prison for giant monsters. It’s a very cartoony book but it still looks like it will be fun.

THE COMPLETE SEASON ONE! On a remote island in the South Pacific lies KAIJUMAX, a maximum security prison for giant monsters. Follow doting father Electrogor as he stands up to the cruel space-superhero warden! See corrupt guard Gupta manage his illicit uranium-dealing empire and pay off his gambling debts to the Queen of the Moon! Watch Mecha-Zon battle his own programming when the monster he was created to destroy shows up on the pound! These stories and more will assault you from every angle in the cesspool of corruption that is KAIJUMAX.

Warlord of Mars: Dejah Thoris: The Colossus of Mars: Volume 1 – Dynamite – $16.99. This series takes place hundreds of years prior to John Carter’s arrival to Mars. This book is intended for mature readers. If you can believe it, the woman on the cover is wearing way more than inside the book.

Martians live forever — everyone knows that. So what was Dejah Thoris doing all those hundreds of years before John Carter arrived? Four hundred years before the events of Warlord of Mars took place, Dejah’s nation of Helium was divided into two warring city-states. An unscrupulous overlord from afar encouraged that rivalry to his own advantage, until he discovers a terrible secret from Mars’s ancient past beneath Dejah Thoris’ capital. A secret to kill for!
Collecting the first five issues of the hit series in one volume, with bonus material and a complete cover gallery from artists such as Art Adams, Joe Jusko, Paul Renaud, Sean Chen, and Ale Garza.

Thrud the Barbarian – Titan Comics – $16.99. Thrud is a comedic look at the barbarian life. I really like the art inside of this book.

Thrud the Barbarian has the strength and ferocity of a Rhinoceros… the speed and agility of a jungle cat… and the intelligence of a garden snail!

A hilarious, timeless parody of Conan The Barbarian and his musclebound ilk!

Champions: No Time for Losers – Marvel Comics – $7.99. This is a great addition to the box! Normally there are four graphic novels but this time we get five! This particular book is the size of a large comic book(definitely bagging and boarding this one). I like unlikely team-up stories and the Champions are exactly that.

When fate calls, a sensational super-team answers! The avenging Angel! Hercules, Prince of Power! The deadly Black Widow! Ghost Rider, Spirit of Vengeance! And the amazing Iceman! When the Champions come together, it is legendary! So much so they’ll face the mythological might of Cerberus, harpies, Amazons and Greek gods — all culminating in a wedding-stopping assault on Olympus! This mixed-up band might just be the heroes Los Angeles needs. And with the best headquarters Warren Worthington III’s money can buy, and Darkstar added to the ranks, they’ll be ready for the most uncanny of evils — like Swarm, Nazi scientist turned lord of killer bees! Only one group can stop the City of Angels from feeling his sting. They are the Champions — and they’ll keep on fighting ‘til the end!

Comic Bento is such an awesome value! All five of these books were packaged so well together and arrived in spectacular condition. As stated earlier, there is a theme but there’s also a ton of variety, and the theming of this box is pretty unique amongst comic subscriptions. The curator’s notes really bring the theme together, and that made this box even more awesome!
