We have POSSIBLE Play! By Sephora October 2016 box spoilers. Thanks to Heather F for this tip!

The theme is “The Cool Cut.” This month, PLAY! by SEPHORA is bringing you innovative formulas and indie finds with a selection of the coolest must-have products.

ShaziaMakeupArtist on YouTube has posted a video with slides of what she’s claiming are the products for the box. There are at least THREE variations for the box (possibly only on the brow and concealer item colors), so this might be one variation or a combination of items. It looks to me like this mystery MUA has posted full spoilers before they were confirmed via accounts, so we have no reason to doubt that these items appear in the October 2016 Sephora PLAY! boxes!

Gucci Guilty

Milk Holographic Highlighting Stick

Becca Aqualuminous Perfecting Concealer

Josie Maran Argan Hydrating & Detoxifying Treatment

Benefit Goof Proof Brow Pencil

Drybar Detox Shampoo

Boxes also include Play! Passes for in-store experiences. Check out Play! by Sephora here. Unfortunately subscriptions are currently full.

What do you think of the spoilers?

I can see plenty of reasons to doubt the credibility of this video “spoiler.” 1). It’s amateurish in quality; 2). products are misspelled; 3). products don’t really fit “innovative formulas and indie finds;” and, most compellingly, 4). that YouTube account has fewer than 10 videos total, most of which have fewer than 100 views….except this one. Releasing “spoilers” for a box that people are highly anticipating is a great way for a marginal YouTube presence to get traffic and subscribers. And here’s a bonus reason: 5). this video has been out for well over a week now, boxes are shipping, and yet is STILL the only source of a spoiler (blogs and other places posting spoilers cite this as their source). If these are the actual spoilers, how is it that a random nobody on YouTube is the only one with this information?

If I were to guess the products based on the theme spoiler and Sephora’s recent marketing, I would guess something along the following lines:
-a hair mask or conditioner with some kind of innovative formula/ingredient on the cusp of trendiness
    -a k-beauty product
-something from the Estée Edit line (the theme “Cool Cut” practically epitomizes Estée Edit’s whole brand identity)
-the Milk makeup product might be a possibility – they’ve got innovative, indie, and cool covered in their marketing
-a product from a brand with a “natural innovators” identity (Tata Harper, Farmacy, Sunday Riley, Origins)
-a fragrance that was included in last month’s “New Season, New Scent” promo

I have no insider-y knowledge, I’m following breadcrumbs. I just am highly skeptical of that video, for the reasons outlined above.

    HI! <3

I am looking for a new concealer (an item I have never found my holy grail for) and I LOVE Becca in general. That is the only item I am truly excited about. I will use the dry shampoo. I don't use stick products because they aren't good for breakout prone skin (which I still have at 35). Otherwise, I would like to try a milk product. I recently died my hair violet, so I have a tough time with my brows. I have used benefit brow product before and liked them, but I doubt I will get the *right* shade. I have been using Ofra universal and Julep cool brown (which I like, until the gel dries out…). My skin is too sensitive for the Josie Maran treatment and I have tried that fragrance before.

Even when there is a month when I only use 1-2 items in the box, it is always worth at least $10. I always go into my Sephora inside JCP and use my play pass for extra points.

Ok so I want to first say I love Sephora play. For the same price as Ipsy and Birchbox you get 5 prestige/brand name items and a bonus fragrance-awesome. Now I have two concerns about this month’s box… 1. Execution of the theme. Like others stated above, this month’s theme is all about upcoming, lesser known brands and yet there is only one product like that in this box. 2. The brow product. In my profile, I was never asked the color of my brows, just my hair color. I can’t speak for everyone but my brows are actually much darker than my hair naturally and when I color my hair, they’re even more so. Not to mention that with so many subscribers, there’s no way they will be able to successfully shade match the brow and concealer with just 4 box variations… I am very worried about this month’s box if these spoilers are true. Anyone else??

I agree with you that brow color isn’t always the same as hair color so at best they’ll be guessing at what shade to send. Personally, my brows are actually lighter than my hair. My hair’s brown but a lot of blonde brow pencils are too dark for me. I’m not holding out hope for this one either.

I am averaging about 1 product per box that is working for me and I keep sticking to this subscription like a slot machine, like MAYBE one of these months will be the winning box for me and everything in it will be amazing! So far out of 6 boxes, I have loved the Bumble and Bumble Don’t Blow It, the KVD Tattoo Liner (which I already had because that is evidently a go-to giveaway item for Sephora), and the ABH brow gel. I have kept the lipsticks, eyeshadows, and a couple of other items, but I have given away 22 of the total 36 items received, which is 61.1% of the total products sent to me…this is not a promising average. *pulls slot machine lever one more time*
I don’t understand why they ask the questions that they do if they are just going to turn around and send stuff that will likely be unusable by the subscriber. I have fair skin, so the medium/dark bronzers we got in a couple of recent boxes went right into my giveaway stash. I also found the wave spray to be sticky and could not stand the scent.

I hope we get the brow pencil. I got one in birchbox a month ago and I loved it but it was so tiny that it didnt last long at all.

    That highlighting stick is awesome!

Play needs to come to Canada… come on, we’ve been so patient!

They do a really good job picking items, in my opinion. I will try them all (except the perfume, because of migraines, and dry shampoo, just because I already have so many). I’m excited about the Milk holographic and the Argan Oil treatment! I will definitely use the Becca concealer (as long as it’s close to my color range). I will try the brow stuff too, even though I already have a brow product I’m happy with. They do a good job giving quality, known, high-end, popular brands, and they generally give out colors that I, at least, can wear. I’ve found myself using up the complete sample of lots of the products they’ve sent.

You’re the best! Now here’s MY quarter’s worth of two cents, ha ha! I *thought* this month was going to more indie brands. The whole “cool cuts” and whatnot. I thought we’d see Milk (that seems to be almost confirmed) and Too Cool For School, Belief, Farmacy etc.

I subscribed for August and LOVED the box/bag. I was into everything but the wave spray which made my hair sticky, sadly. I also got Sept and it was almost entirely misses so I got out, despite my FOMO. Then…I read posts about October’s theme, and signed RIGHT back up.

If these spoilers are true I’m honestly a LIL bummed, buuut the holidays will come around soon enough and I’ve been stashing things left and right to make goody bags and boxes for everyone’s gifts. I’m all about that silver lining.
