So Choix Sample Subscription Box Review – September 2016

So Choix is a cosmetics sample subscription service; think Netflix for luxury brand cosmetics.  Their goal is to combine the best parts of the in-store experience with online shopping.  For $15 a month, you’ll get your choice of 5 beauty products to try.  Build your queue with any products you want to try from So Choix’s lineup of luxury brands and products.  Add, edit, and delete products from your queue as you wish.  You’ll also earn 250 points ($5 credit) every month that can be redeemed towards any product at So Choix.  Points can be rolled over and do not expire!  You can also sample items from So Choix without a subscription for $5 each (turns into $5 credit towards the full–size product).

Choix is French for choice, and this service strives to give you that.  So Choix was created on the following philosophy:

Everything is neatly packed, with makeup and tools sorted into their own packs.

Under my boxes, there were bonus packets with skincare items from Mario Badescu and Kiehl’s.  I love extras!!!

The white box contains all of my makeup samples.  Each product is secured in the box to keep it from rattling around during shipment.  The lid contains a list of the items I received.

The folded card contains a small tool kit to use with my samples.  It included a Brow Brush, Lip Brush, Blush Brush, and Dual Ended Point Tip Swabs.

Chanel Rouge Allure Velvet Matte Color – La Sensuelle:  I’ve recently grown fond of matte lipsticks and am looking for colors that have a nice finish and don’t dry out my lips.  This formula was very moisturizing and the color had a dramatic punch.  In the picture, this looked more like a dark pink/berry color, but it is actually a dark red.  From reviews on the site, several member have had the same problem with colors not being the same as shown.

Clinique Brow Shaper – Soft Brown:  This color went on easily and could be built up where needed.  It filled in my brows with a natural look; I’ve tried pencils before and ended up the cartoon brows.  I topped this off with my Anastasia brow wax.  The price for this powder was reasonable, and I think I’m going to order the full-sized product.

NARS Blush – NARS Super Orgasm:  I’ve wanted to try NARS Orgasm blush for a while, but I like Super Orgasm because it is just a slight bit darker.  This shade looks like a kiss of color on my cheeks and adds a healthy looking glow.  So glad I got to try it, and I might have to pick this up when I run out of my Benefit Coralista.

Chanel Precision Lip Definer – Rouge Noir:  In my quest to find my shade of red lipstick, I needed to find a lip liner to go underneath.  This color pairs extremely well with the Chanel lip color I received in the box.  It was a little dry and hard to apply on bare lips.  I’ll have to try this with a lip balm on my lips first.

Dior Contour Lipliner Pencil – 943 Thrilling Plum:  This color worked well with the Chanel lip color I received too.  I preferred this formula over the Chanel pencil – it was much smoother and less drying.

I loved this installment from So Choix.  The colors and products that I chose were what I had hoped for.  The only exception was the Chanel lip definer.  So, what did you think of the products I chose?  Have you tried So Choix? Share your thoughts below.
