Magical Monthly Subscription Box Review – July 2016

Monthly Magic, now Magical Monthly, is a monthly unofficial Disney-themed subscription box. They offer snacks, and fun souvenirs from Disney Theme Parks for $59.98 per month! Each box comes with 2-8 items from Disneylands from around the world, so you can still enjoy the magic of Disney even you’re far away from the park! Monthly Magic also offers a monthly pin, snack, and mug subscription.

The items in this month’s box came from mostly Disney Japan!

Everything in my July Monthly Magic box. It looked like a good mix of items – although relatively small volume compared to the size of the box. 

I have a big note to share on the prices. While we do convert currency to get an idea of how much items are worth, we can’t always find them available to ship to the US – these bears in particular you can buy for $21 each! Not kidding. So take any currency conversion with a grain of salt for boxes like this.

Disney Big Hero 6 Baymax Compact Mirror: An adorable stylized compact mirror with Baymax and a little heart. So cute and we just rewatched this movie a few weeks ago!

Disney Finding Dory Sticker: This must be a promotional sticker because I wouldn’t see sticking it on say, a laptop, but it would be fun for a scrapbook.

 The compact has a magnetic closure.

 And full-on Baymax on the back!

Disney Minnie Mouse Pin (¥200, roughly $2) This is a unique pin to add to our collection and a big hit with my 7 year old daughter. 

Disney Tsum Tsum Table Napkins: Or tissues, whatever you would like to call them! Not all countries are obsessed with making sure you have disposable paper products – carry your own!

 These have an adorable Tsum Tsum pattern. As we are TsumAddicts this was a hit!

Disney Mickey Mouse Art Mask Painted Facepack (¥400, roughly $4) OMG NO I CANNOT BUT I WILL! Who cares what this sheet mask does for your skin when it will turn you into Mickey?!

I’m really not sure what it is designed to do except plump up your collagen (the back mentions collagen essence).

Please don’t tell anyone I actually put this picture on the internet. It’s terrifying. My daughter was ok with it – my 5 year old son not ok, 1 year old thought it was hilarious and laughed uncontrollably.

Disney Princesses Coin Purse/Napkin Holder: one side of this has a zipper for storing your coins, bills, and ID card.

 The other side has a flapped area to carry your tissues. This is adorable and when I first saw it I wasn’t sure that it was a Disney item but it is. It’s awful cute too!

Disney UniBEARsity Pudding Keychain (¥1000, roughly $10)

These are the cutest! I thought that it was Duffy and Shellie Mae but I guess these are different bears! I did some digging – there is a whole series of bears that matches with Disney stars (including the baby oyster in Alice in Wonderland – which is pretty much one of the oddest things I’ve ever heard of). You can see more UniBEARsity here.

There are big diaper pins on the back to attach them and the phone charm and ball chains are totally removable.The color of these bears is a nice caramel, which is a bit different from the regular Mocha and Pudding, which leads me to think that maybe they are supposed to also be Duffy inspired. I’m not really sure – and having an explanation card in this box would go a really long way for me!

This was a really fun box – and the bears are some of my kids’ favorite items from this entire year of subscription boxes, which is saying quite a bit, because we do unbox a lot of really amazing things. I thought this month really showed a great variety and I’m really happy with this subscription. Despite the high price the unusual and expensive/hard to obtain items make it worth it!
