Herb Stop is a locally owned small business out of Pine, Arizona that offers the Aroma Box, a monthly essential oils subscription box. Master Herbalists Leilah Breitler and Natalie Hajdu strive to ensure that all their ingredients come from reliable and ethical sources. Love that! And, all their essential oils are 100% pure.
FYI – The Aroma Box is always available through the end of the month!
For the phenomenal price of $19.99 (including shipping!!!!) you get 4 bottles of essential oils (1/3 oz or 1/6 oz each), essential oil blends or roll-on essential oil blends. Along with your aromas, you will receive a description of each oil, 3 tips on using each oil, as well as any safety information. Seriously, it’s just $19.99 for all of this!
Herb Stop was reading my mind. Seriously. I live in the South. Bugs are a problem. I had just said to my daughter, “I hope the next Herb Stop box has oils to make homemade bug spray.” Really, those exact words, and lo and behold what is in the box!! I immediately jumped on Amazon and order these “cute as a bugs ear” cobalt blue spray bottles to mix it in.
This business card with all the Herb Stop‘s pertinent contact information was in the box. They have a retail, wholesale and manufacturing location (if you are in Arizona) or you can satisfy your herb shopping needs at www.herbstoponline.com .
This cute postcard from Natalie, Leilah, and the Herb Stop Team welcomed us to the box.
This card stock sheet gives you a detailed description of each of the oils.
Each oil is described and then it gives you an aromatherapy tip, a tip from Leilah (the Master Herbalist), a tip from Natalie (the other Master Herbalist), and any safety precautions. There is a nice color picture of each herb and the details are easy enough for the newest essential oil enthusiast to under stand (I’m referring to myself here).
This month’s sheet also has the recipe for the bug spray that I am going to make and put in my aforementioned cobalt blue spray bottles. Yeah!
The first oil in the box was Canadian Catnip. Like to attract cats?? No, apparently Catnip has other uses. Who knew?
“The herbaceous scent of Catnip is a pleasant smell to keep those bugs away! This Canadian Catnip contains the highest concentration of nepetalactone -the famous natural constituent effective at repelling insects. Catnip has earned a spot in this month’s Aroma Box because researchers at Iowa State University have found that Catnip essential oil is 10 times more effective than the ingredient DEET!”
Natalie’s Tip is my favorite for this oil. “Catnip is non-toxic and very safe, making this an ideal essential oil to add to body care products, such as lotions, body sprays, shampoo, etc. to keep those biting bugs away from you.”
The bottle that you receive in the box is a full size 1/6 oz bottle and retails for $40!! This bottle alone is worth twice the cost of the box. Cha-ching!! (That’s the sound of savings.)
The next oil in the box was Citronella 1/3 oz. A full size bottle is 1/2 oz and retails for $12.60.
“The familiar and lemony scent of Citronella reminds us of enjoying evenings outdoors – minus the mosquitoes. Citronella appears in this month’s Aroma Box because this oil is well known to repel insects, in fact it is produced widely and sold commercially for its bug-repellant uses. Citronella is also an excellent antiseptic and makes a great sanitizer for kitchen surfaces. This oil can also be used to lift the spirits and combat mental stress.”
I liked Leilah’s tip for this oil. “Wipe down kitchen counters with a mixture of 20 drops Citronella and 4 ounces of white vinegar. The scent is clean and uplifting.”
A 1/3 oz bottle of Niaouli was in the box. The full size bottle is 1/2 oz and retails for $10.99.
“This essential oil is related to Tea Tree oil, but it has a softer and sweeter scent while retaining all the benefits. This unique oil has been used through out history for its anti-viral, anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties. Often this oil is used for a wide range of uses including colds, cold sores, coughs and sore muscles. Niaouli makes a splash in this month’s Aroma Box because of its benefits in healing burns, cuts, and of course, insect bites.”
The Aromatherapy Tip for this oil suggests that you blend it in a diffuser with Eucalyptus oil for bronchial congestion.
This bottle of roll on wonderfullness was in the box. ” Sting Stop was blended with all pokes, bites, stings and small cuts in mind. This rich and earthy formula has an interesting color that is actually a chemical component of German Chamomille called Azuline, which is responsible for not only its blue color, but its amazing anti-inflmmatory benefits. Remember to gently pull the stinger out (if applicable) before trying Sting Stop to your boo-boos. Make sure to shake very well before applying.”
Sting Stop ($16.95) includes Lavender, Tea Tree, Niaouli, Eucalyptus radiata, Summer Savory, and German Chamomile blended with 100% Aloe Vera Juice and Witch Hazel.
I tried this on a mosquito bite right away, and no medical promises here, but it really worked for me! And it does have a great earthy scent. Love it.
At $19.99 for the Aroma Essential Oil Monthly Subscription box you are getting several times your money worth. I love that Herb Stop sends oils that work together and instructions on how to use them. And, this month, that they read my mind and scent exactly what I wanted.
