Julep Maven is a monthly subscription service that occasionally offers special collections for a steal and this time around it was the Pool Party Mystery Box. This box is still available here while supplies last for only $24.99 and promises over $100 worth of products. At checkout you have the option to add some extras at a discounted price. I received the Major Mystery Add-On for $14.99 (was $38). This collection is different from the monthly box. If you want to learn about past monthly boxes you can read all about them here.

My Mystery Box was shipped in a sturdy cardboard box and had shredded paper for cushioning. I was so excited when I got it since it is the first time I have ever tried Julep!

Brika Makeup Case ($10-20?) This bag is perfect for carrying items in a beach bag so that they won’t leak. Big enough to hold a couple of sunscreens, lip balm, etc. This would be too big to fit in a purse but it could double as a clutch.

All of the rest of the items I received. Unfortunately, my Mystery Box and Major Mystery Add-On were packed together so I am not sure which items were meant to be in the Mystery Box itself! I believe they sent 6 random items in the mystery box and I have 8 items total so two of those are my bonus items. I just have no way to tell. They weren’t  kidding when they called it a mystery box. Since all boxes may vary yours may look like mine or completely different. Surprise! (Note: Julep said that boxes may have overlap so if you are considering ordering more than one you may get two identical boxes.)

Five of the items I received were nail polishes. Julep polishes are 5-free and vegan friendly. They claim that their polishes are breathable and can help strengthen nails after just 2 weeks of use.

Madelynn – It Girl ($14) Imperial Purple Shimmer. For some reason this looks blue in all of my pictures but it really is purple.

Lillian – It Girl ($14) Alabaster Pink Crème. Very pale with just a hint of pink.

Jacqueline – Classic with a Twist ($14) Bright grenadine shimmer. This is my favorite one of the bunch!

Makenna – Classic with a Twist ($14) Gilded lilac glitter. I can’t wait to try this over a base of Lillian!

Hayley – Boho Glam ($14) Beetroot crème. I’m saving this one for fall!

Swatched from top: Madelynn, Makenna, Lillian, Hayley, and Jacqueline.

When Pencil Met Gel Long-Lasting Eyeliner in Electric Teal Shimmer ($16) This one is supposed to glide on smoothly and set in 30 seconds and should give at least 10 hours of wear. The tip broke off when I swatched it but then quickly smoothed back over as I finished. True to their word it didn’t budge from my arm! The shade, however, is a little too bright for my age bracket but I will try just a hint at the inner upper corner of my eyes.

Lip Gloss in Enchanted ($20) Sheer Watermelon shade. I like this non-sticky gloss with a hint of vanilla flavor. This contains an age-defying Power Cell Complex which is supposed to be ultra-hydrating.

Luxe Up Your Lips in Candy Apple ($24) A super-moisturizing silky lip gloss with no stickiness. There was, however, some grittiness to it that is annoying. I tried this a few times and sometimes it was more noticeable than others. I tried rubbing it in with my fingers but that removed the product from my lips. I settled for rubbing my lips together and the grittiness disappeared but I probably wouldn’t purchase this again. Contains vitamin E and pumpkin seed oil.

From the top: Lip Gloss in Enchanted, Eyeliner in Electric Teal (with the broken tip), and Lip Treatment in Candy Apple. You can see some of the gritty particles in the treatment on the bottom.

I am going to get a lot of use from this Mystery Box! I loved the colors and the mystery added to the fun. My Pool Party Mystery Box and Major Mystery Add-On had a combined value of around $145! That is excellent for the $39.98 combo price! What do you think of the colors? Are they pool-ready?

I saw the Facebook posts that the mystery box items were five polishes and the eye glider, so the two lip products were the mystery add on. I stalk the Facebook posts on the mystery boxes before deciding lol
