Yummy Bazaar delivers gourmet food items to your door monthly. This Destination Food Club is available in a large Full Experience size and mini Sampler size. With the Full Experience you’ll get 6-8 full sized gourmet items from your destination for $35.95. The Sampler subscription sends 6-8 sample sizes for $9.95. While the Full Experience Box focuses on a different country each month, the Sampler Box has a monthly World Theme that is described as featuring products from 2-3 different countries each month — some months include more destinations.
This review covers the Sampler Box for April 2016 – only $9.95 per month!
The packaging is a bit simpler than the Full Experience Box, but you still get an info sheet detailing the contents of the box.
The sheet may borrow some of the imagery from the Full Experience box, but the products and destinations can be very different.
The info card details the products. The origin of each item is provided — This month was a whirlwind tour, visiting Italy, Turkey, USA, and Taiwan.
Everything in the box. This month’s Mini included items from a whopping four countries!
Basak Adana Style Kebab Seasoning – Turkey ($4.95) This mix is good for 1kg ground meat (2.2 lbs – preferably mutton or 750g ground meat + 250g tail fat!). Mix it up with the meat and divide and roll meat parts up to pre-oiled sishes. I found these instructions delightful! We can’t wait for the rain to pass and have a fun Turkish dinner. The information card came with directions for chicken shish kebabs!
Next Chocolates Dark Chocolate Cherries – USA ($1.75) This brand is always so great! These are dried cherries covered in dark chocolate and delicious. Our daughter says: first all you taste is chocolate but then you taste a chewy, tart inside!
Nice Choice Traditional Black Sesame Cake – Taiwan: This is a huge amount of sweet black sesame paste covered in a flaky/crumbly bun. It’s great – but doesn’t really taste like regular sesame seeds, or anything nutty. It reminds me more of a Fig Newton than anything else
Triko Green Peas – Taiwan: 3 single-serving size green pea snacks were included – hot, mustard, and plain. The mustard peas packed much more of a punch than the hot flavor! All three were tasty and mildly addictive.
Ulker Milk Chocolate With Pistachio – Turkey: We were super happy to see this brand appear in the Sampler box – it was in April’s full-size box too – and it was so amazing! This is a milk chocolate version stuffed with delicious fresh pistachios. Apparently Ulker is the parent company of Godiva, but it’s much better!
Mulino Bianco Chocolate Cereal Bar – Italy: Bread of stars – how sweet! This tastes like a chocolate rice krispy treat except no marshmallows – only chocolate. It’s a cereal bar, but super decadent – and actually ridiculously sweet. I ate all of it at once.
This box was super nommable, plus I still have a full-size item to make dinner with! I thought everything was fabulous and I love getting snacks to sample from around the world. And basically you know it’s a great box when it never gets to Tom to review – it’s because I ate everything! ?
