Taste Trunk Healthy Box Subscription Review – May 2016

Taste Trunk is a monthly subscription box of gourmet treasures. You can pick one of 4 themes – sweet, BBQ, gourmet, and healthy chef! You can, in addition to the subscription, choose gift boxes that do not have a subscription. It’s also worth checking out the site to see what seasonal trunks are available!

I love the care that is taken to protect this box.  First of all, my actual Taste Trunk Box was shipped inside of another box.  Then, you open up to see bubble wrap, paper squiggles, and craft paper protecting all of your food.

Napa Valley Walnut Infused Oil Blend ($9.99):  This is currently on sale!  It is a blend of oils that is versatile and can be used for multiple cooking applications – sauteing, pan frying, and as  finishing oil.

Maison de Monaco Peach & Lavender Preserves ($6.75):  “These unique preserves are hand-made in San Francisco from traditional French recipes, using more fruit and less sugar than other brands. They use the highest quality ingredients to make jams that are 70% real fruit.”  When I opened this, the lavender scent hit me first.  But then, the peach was out in full force.  These preserves were super yummy and not overly sweet.  The lavender was mild and more of a background note.

i heart keenwah Peanut Ginger Quinoa Cluster ($5.99):  These are a great guilt-free snack.  Made with nutty quinoa, peanuts, rice puffs, and natural sweeteners, the clusters are a crunchy, high-protein snack.  I am not a fan of ginger, but there’s only a hint of it.

Urban Accents Veggie Roasters ($5.99 each):  These flavor packets help you amp up your favorite veggies.  Each variety has a specific veggie that it features, but the spice mix is not limited to just the one.  Follow the simple batch recipes on the back of the box or wing it with whatever you’ve got.

Manchego & Roasted Garlic Veggie Roaster:  Combines the flavors of manchego cheese and garlic.  Recommended for veggie steaks, but I think I’ll use it when I roast potatoes this week.

Spicy Peri Peri & Lemon Veggie Roaster:  Features chili pepper, lemon, and garlic.  The batch recipe features kale, but I rarely buy kale.  The flavors would be good on some green beans though.  Mmm…
