I was very impressed by how well the box was organized for shipment and how inviting everything looked as soon as I opened the box.
The theme for this month’s box was Mothers–Today’s Gift. Tomorrow’s Treasure.
A mother’s love is instinctual, unconditional, and forever. It is cherished today and will be treasured tomorrow. This month the Rising Sun Snack Club celebrates the gift of mothers and mother figures.
May’s box contained the following snacks: Deconstructed Tiramisu ($5.99), Crab Pretzel ($3.99), Cocoa Chia Granola ($5.99), Coconut Almond Date Roll ($3.99 on sale) and Chili Snack Mix ($5.99).
The chili snack mix ($5.99) was my favorite of this month’s snacks. Growing up in Miami, I was a huge fan of Hurricanes football. While I’d go to all the home games, my family would go to my great aunt’s house to watch all the away games on her TV. There, she served light hors d’oeuvres which always included a chili snack mix just like this one. I loved it then, and I love it now! Slightly sweet and with a little bit of heat, the chili adds dimension to this light, crunchy snack containing almonds, cashews, chili crackers and garlic sesame sticks.
There is something very comforting about these almond coconut date rolls ($3.99 on sale). Made from pure, sweet mashed dates that are formed into bars, rolled in coconut and decorated with an almond, these satisfy a sweet craving in a healthy way. Simple, sweet, soft and delicious.
The deconstructed tiramisu ($5.99) is a delicious blend of yogurt-covered cookies, yogurt-covered raisins and chocolate-covered espresso beans. The coffee-flavor was very pronounced: it had permeated through both the cookies and the raisins. This would make for a great pick-me-up towards the end of a long day at work. Since I have to limit my caffeine intake, I gifted these to my son’s French tutor. She was delighted!
The organic cocoa chia granola ($5.99) was delicious. In addition to cocoa covered granola, it contained large pieces of chocolate chia bark that tasted just like chocolate. My son ate the chocolate chunks up, not knowing that they contained chia seeds.
The crab pretzels ($3.99) tasted just like pretzels with a mere hint of crab and cheese flavoring (made from real crab sauteed in butter and cheese, of course!). These were delicious. I had to chase my daughter around the house to get more than a taste of these.
These snacks were absolutely delicious. As an extra bonus, they’re produced with many organic ingredients and all of them are 100% GMO free. Although available in stores in the mid-Atlantic region, they are not available near me outside of their website. While you could purchase the packages individually, subscribing month to month will afford a small discount over individual bag purchases. Prepaying for a longer subscription will offer even more savings. If you like delicious homemade snacks made from whole food, GMO-free (and lots of organic) ingredients, this subscription is for you.
