I do not see the value in 5 samples only for $22. I hope folks keep in mind that most stores like Sephora will make you a sample of anything (aside from Mascara and pencil eyeliners typically) and not charge you a dime. Regular Birchbox is fun as you get the occasional bonus and the price point is not too bad. But at $22 its not worth the price to me personally.
I share your sentiment (even though we don’t have a Sephora!!). One of these items was in my regular Birchbox. I would rather put my $ towards trying a regular subscription but people still like to see it or use their points on it.
