Konenkii is a quarterly “discovery” subscription box for modern women — north of 40.  According to the website, “Each quarter we find some intriguing items to share.  Some you can use right away and some are to savor.  But it’s really about giving yourself a little treat.  Something to look forward to.  Just for you.”   Although the contents of the box are a surprise, Konenkii promises that “you can always count on finding something fabulous to eat, to wear, to read, or share.”

I loved the special Valentine’s Day box from Konenkii (reviewed here), so I was definitely looking forward to see what they had sent along for spring.  The quarterly subscription is $49 every three months, with a discount for purchasing a full year (four boxes) at a time.  I’m still digging the nice, mature red box…but let’s see what’s inside!

Green squiggly paper!  Kind of like an Easter basket, especially with those pastel balls poking out in the corner.  I also liked the card for this box – “Spring is nature’s way of saying let’s party!”  As a woman north of 40, I have fond memories of Robin Williams and this quote made me smile.  But you really want to know what was under the (blurry) squiggly paper, right?20160315_090356

So much fun!  I will tell you, for every item (except one…I’ll tell you about that in a minute) I pulled out of the box, I got more excited.  I’ve said it before, but it’s worth repeating.  Konenkii has nailed it, at least for this woman.  There is not a single thing in this box that I was not happy to get.  Every item is totally usable in my world, plus in reading the card explaining what was in the box, I felt like the box was made just for me.  Let me show you!

Here’s a better look at the card for this month.  It’s a pretty green color that yells spring.

Inside the card is a listing of items included in the box, along with funny comments and ideas for using the goodies.  Some of these descriptions made me smile (“with a name like Happy Doodles you can’t help but smile”) — others made me laugh out loud (“this is the kind of F-bomb that’s okay to throw around”…referring to flower bombs, of course).  I knew even before I got into the goodies that this was going to be fun.

Posh Adult Coloring Book and colored pencils:  I already have a couple of adult coloring books, so clearly this was right up my alley!  (And who doesn’t like new colored pencils?!)  I really like this coloring book because the designs are complex enough to be interesting but also have some areas large enough for mindless coloring.  Also, these are nice quality colored pencils – the card says they were recommended by the coloring book artist.  Beautiful bold hues, plus they color very smoothly.

Seattle Chocolates truffle bars:  O.M.G.  I am such a chocoholic…and these truffle bars are amazing.  Ah-maaaaz-ing.  I love that Konenkii includes chocolate…and not just chocolate, but really really good chocolate.  I hid these from my family because I’m so not sharing.  Both are awesome, but my favorite of the two is the salted almond.  Dark chocolate plus big old hunks of nut plus salt?  Other than adding a glass of red wine to go with it, it’s perfect.  (And I may or may not have had a bit of this bar with a glass of wine…)

Organic flower bombs:  I had seen these before but never bought any myself.  I don’t have much of a green thumb.  However, I love the way wildflowers look and this seems easy enough for me to handle, right?  Throw and grow.  I can handle that.  I look forward to growing some pretty flowers this spring/summer with these.20160315_090631

Shamballa bracelet:  I had seen these bracelets around, but I didn’t have one yet.  Konenkii sent this bracelet in a pretty light blue jewelry bag (spring!) — the bracelet is part pink disco ball and part hematite on black cord.  It is pretty and sparkly.

And it looks nice on me!  Love it!20160315_090557

Naiad Cherry Blossom whipped soap sugar scrub:   This is a mini-sized jar of sugar scrub.  I love sugar scrub…see, this box really was made for me!  The cherry blossom scent is very nice, plus this sugar scrub (unlike some others I’ve tried) actually makes a nice lather.  It also left my skin soft & smelling lovely.  My only complaint?  I just wish it was a bigger jar!    20160315_090608

Gessie Green Tea Konjac sponge:  As I mentioned above, there was one thing that I wasn’t sure about when I opened the box…and this was it.  I wasn’t familiar with these sponges, but after a little online research (for example, here), I was much more interested.  I’ve given it a try and now I am a fan.  These sponges both exfoliate and moisturize, not bad properties, particularly for women of a certain age…even if I wasn’t initially excited, I am glad Konenkii introduced me to this product.

Recipe cards:  Finally, the box included a set of four recipe cards with fresh, very spring-y recipes.  I haven’t had a chance to try any of them yet, but the recipes look delicious and the pictures are beautiful.  The directions seem very straightforward and I look forward to whipping up some salmon rolls and lemon squares.  Yum!

I don’t imagine this comes as a surprise, but I am a serious fangirl of Konenkii!  The curators are picking products that are age-appropriate (for women north of 40) but don’t make me feel old…no wrinkle cream, no “hide the grey hair”.  The goodies are quality products that are fun and useful — plus I’m discovering some great new items (like green tea sponges) that I never would have thought to try.  And of course, I totally enjoyed the curators’ descriptions of the items. Another box where I loved everything in it – awesome!  Perfect for anyone, like me, who is “aging fearlessly and having fun along the way!”
