The Boxwalla Food box contains delicious artisan crafted foods and goodies from all across the US! Boxwalla is a bi-monthly subscription service that offers four themes – natural beauty, artisanal food, international film, or books! In Boxwalla you’ll be able to discover great artisans and artists from across the globe. After your first box you can switch themes, but of course you can subscribe to more than one box as well!
The packaging for this box is absolutely gorgeous. The box itself is sort of like a luxe cotton rag paper covered box handcrafted by artisans in Rajasthan, India (none of whom are children). The outside indicates which box you received.
The information card is a letter from “The Drunken Boxwallas” detailing each of the products. The theme for this box is The Sweetest Things.
For the February Food Box we have chosen a spread of some of the most delicious, mouthwatering confections we could find. There will be chocolate. Filled with sweet surprises and surprising flavors : blood orange, vanilla bean, strawberry, pepper; roses peeking from unexpected places. Toothsome delights: some creamy, some chewy. Showcasing artisans all over the U.S. who’ve made these sweetest things.
Everything in the February Boxwalla Food Box!
Coop’s Salted Caramel Sauce ($10.99) While salted caramel has been all over the dessert and confection world for several years, I’ve never had it in a sauce. It’s made from fresh creamery butter and cream and I have never had anything like it. It’s perfectly balanced and delectable!
These chocolate bars are absolutely unreal – gorgeous, artful bars that taste just as good as they look. Both with 66% chocolate, it was the perfect amount to show off the unique flavor combinations.
Ethereal Confections Strawberries + Rose Petals + Pink Peppercorns Inclusion Chocolate Bar ($7.50) Topped with strawberries and rose petals, the pink peppercorns saved this from being cloying and totally transformed it!
Ethereal Confections Blood Orange + Vanilla Meltaway Chocolate Bar ($7.50) This melt away bar featured a blood orange and vanilla bean center and it was totally amazing. They are must try chocolates.
Lick My Spoon Totally Fudged Chocolate Fudge Sauce ($13.50) How have I not heard of fudge sauce made out of Valrhona chocolate? Life changer, especially considering this needed no heating. You can accompany any delicate dessert that needs fudging but that the heat of hot fudge would destroy. Yes, some things just call for “fudging.”
Lick My Spoon Torrone ($10) I love Torrone! It has a sweet base with honey, vanilla, and egg white studded with nuts. This one includes hazelnuts, pistachios, almonds, with a Madagascar Vanilla bean and citrus nougat.
Even with the paper outside (it’s edible) it was a bear to unwrap!
I was definitely rewarded when I finally broke into it! Delicious!
This was a delightful and amazing assortment! With a value right at the cost of the box (approximately $49.50) it’s right on par with what I expect from a gourmet food subscription. Every item but one was something that I have never tried (or even heard of) before, so I think it’s easy to say that Boxwalla really digs deep on the curation – and everything really is gourmet and artisanal (and delicious!).
