The Birchbox theme for February 2016 is What’s the Occasion? Birchbox is a beauty sampling subscription box. You’ll get at least 5 items every month (I often get more) to try out and see what you love. Birchbox is $10 a month, plus you accumulate points after reviewing the items in your box! You’ll get 10 points per item reviewed, and 100 points are equal to $10 in the shop.
I decided to order a Birchbox Plus item. Birchbox will send your Birchbox and Birchbox Plus item(s) together in a larger box. I did not include the picture of the larger box because it had a difficult and looong travel through the DHL/USPS system.
The information card gives brief details on each item. Remember to go to to Birchbox.com/MyBox to review your samples for points!
I like it when they use pillow packs for the smaller items. They did not use one this time.
Here are my items in the February box!
The Cartier Basier Vole Lys Rose Eau de Toilette Spray ($3.15) is a “mischievous floral”. Odie, our youngest dog, kept sniffing my wrist after I sprayed it to test the scent. The notes are Lilly and Raspberry. I do wish that Birchbox would let us pick what type of scents that we want if they are going to persist in sending us perfumes. Florals are not my favorite. Better yet, don’t send me any.
The Marcelle NewAge8 in 1 Power Serum ($8.28) works in one week. Did they send enough for me to use it for one week? It’s free of parabens, gluten, and fragrances. I will try it on my neck.
The Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Lip Tar – Black Metal Dahlia ($9.14) sounds familiar. I received a similar shade in Glossybox September 2014 when I purchased it as part of their October 2014 Mystery Sale. I liked it then and like this version now.
The color looks dark but is more of a matte berry. A little bit goes a long way
The Ouidad VitaCurl Define & Shine Styling Gel-Cream ($8.67) I’m shocked that Birchbox sent me something that fits my hair profile. I’ll be trying this out on my hair right away! It’s also a decent size sample weighing in at 2 ounces.
The Whish Revitalizing Cleansing Oil ($4.41) is my sample choice. I gave it a try and found it did not work as well as other cleansing oils that I own. I am glad that I did try it out!
I no longer see the Rifle Paper Botanical Note Set on the Birchbox website. It was available for $20.00. I selected it because I love Rifle Paper products and go through lots of notebooks and notepads.
My February Birchbox had a good value of about $34.00. The winner for me this month is the Ouidad gel-cream mainly because I rarely receive hair products that work on my hair.
From Brandy: It’s a bonus Birchbox Month! Here’s what I received in my second box – FHI Brands Daily Beauty for Wildlife Healing Argan Oil, The Body Shop Fuji Green Tea Body Butter,Whish Revitalizing Cleansing Oil, Sahajan Restorative Eye Cream, and ARROW BOOST Color Enhancing Lip Balm!
