Scent Trunk is a scent discovery subscription. Formerly just for men, they’ve just expanded to women’s fragrances as well. Every month you’ll receive 3 niche scents to experience, try out, and enjoy! Fill out a brief profile on their site and you’ll receive a customized box of fragrances. They have a beautiful new website as well.
The three fragrances come in an organza bag inside a little box. You’ll get 6mL of each fragrance.
There are 3 information cards in the box – one for each fragrance, and you can spray them with the scents and make your own little card catalog.
The cards have information on each scent, the longevity, and the sillage, which describes how far the perfume ingredients disperse (are you just smelling it or is everyone smelling it?), and ouch! The price!
Each of the sprayers has a cap and a label to identify the fragrance.
Hummingbird by Zoologist: Top notes are apple, cherry, citruses, lilac, lily-of-the-valley, pear, plum, rose and violet leaf; middle notes are honey, honeysuckle, mimosa, peony, tulip and ylang-ylang; base notes are coumarin, whipped cream, amber, moss, musk, sandalwood and white woods. The idea behind this fragrance is to capture the essences of every flower a hummingbird flits to. Instead of being a steady floral it’s rooted in traditional perfume scents like musk and sandalwood.
Impossible Iris by Ramon Monegal: With top notes of jasmine and mimosa, middle notes are raspberry and iris and base notes of ylang-ylang and virginian cedar. The cedar is quite strong with this one and gives it a smokey glamorous feel. Cedar isn’t my favorite scent so I’ll pass this one along!
Brume d’Hiver by VOLNAY: The name of this perfume means “winter mist.” The card was very interesting – all the perfumes from this fragrance house have the same notes – powder, vanilla, rose, and clove. This one also includes Italian bergamot, elemi, juniper berries, jasmine, Bulgarian rose, oud, incense, violet, heliotrope, musk, Haitian vetiver, labdanum, rosewood, cypriol. Definitely a spicy woody scent!
The only thing I didn’t really love were the labels – I prefer the names printed vertically so they can be seen at a glance. My favorite this time around was definitely the Hummingbird scent, but the other perfumes were intriguing as well, and I always think it’s exciting to try new niche scents from perfumers I’ve never heard of before!
