love with food january 2016 box

Love with Food‘s January theme was Love is Kind, and what is kinder than receiving an array of tasty snacks – from Europe to north America and salty to sweet.  YUM!  This is a fun snack discovery subscription available in three versions:  Tasting box (starting at $7.99), Deluxe box (starting at $16.50), and Gluten-free (starting at $19.99).  Below is a review of the tasting box.  Since this was my first box, I was eager to see what was in store.

“It’s a new year, which means a new chance to live your best life, and what better way to start than with a little kindness?  Pass this month’s Love With Food box around to friends and family.  It’s sure to be a hit!  And don’t forget:  You’ve already gotten some good karma for the year, because every box sold donates at least one meal to food banks around the U.S.”

Last year, Love with Food was able to provide 700,000 meals to food banks around the U.S.  Their goal for 2016 is to bring that number up to 1 MILLION!

Everything in the January Tasting box!

Corn and Sea Salt Chips by The Better Chip:  Made with simple ingredients, these chips promise to deliver real flavor.  I can’t wait to try these with some pico de gallo.

Mini Chocolates by Ritter Sport (milk chocolate with cornflakes):  My love affair with this brand began some time ago.  Surprisingly, the chocolate with cornflakes was not one I had tried before.  Planning to have this as a reward for getting this review completed.

Mini Wafers by Loacker (milk chocolate with hazelnut):  I’ve seen this brand before, but haven’t tried any products.  Apparently, they are #1 in Italy and ready to take over the US.  Chocolate plus hazelnut; I think this will be a sweet introduction to the line (pun intended).

love with food january 2016 20160114_123207Handmade Sea Salt Caramel by Annie B’s:  This was a buttery soft caramel with grains of sea salt in the middle, which gave a nice balance of sweet and salty.  My only regret is that there weren’t more of these.  You can save 20% on your purchase at the Annie B’s website by using the promo code included in the box.

Hard Candies by Go Organic (honey):  I’m usually a little hesitant with honey flavored candy because, depending on the honey used, they can have an overwhelming flavor that’s reminiscent of a throat lozenge.  Not the case here.  These had a light honey flavor with a bit of a butterscotch after taste.

Original Ginger Snaps by Shasha Bread Co.:  I didn’t even get to taste these.  The gingersnap fiend (aka my dad) swiped them from the box after seeing blackstrap molasses in the ingredient list.  In case you were wondering why that was special, blackstrap molasses is darker and more flavorful than regular molasses.  I’ll have to take his word that the cookies were good.

Original Premium Smoked Pork Snack Stick by DiMario Foods:  This was immediately devoured after the picture was taken!  It was SO delish – not overly salty, well seasoned, with a slight acidic tang.  And it had a good snap when bitten.

Tomato & Onion Bruschetta by Dip’in:  Bruschetta topping is not normally regarded as a dip, so I was slightly taken aback.  Since I don’t have grilled bread nearby, this going into my lunch bag with some bagel chips.

I was very happy with the assortment I received in my Love with Food box.  This is a great way to try out new snacks without committing to full-sized packages you may not want to finish.  Another bonus is that these sizes work well for portion control, if you’re trying to be healthier.
