For January 2016, I selected “Eclipse,” a cute two-piece outfit that costs $59.95.  The prices listed are the VIP pricing.

This was my first time receiving a Fabletics box.  As a runner and triathlete, I am always super excited to try out new workout clothes.  But I always have two concerns.  First, will the clothes be as functional as they are cute?  Because I will wear them to run or bike or lift weights at the gym…and they need to work while I work out.  Second, will the clothes look OK on me?  Because although I am active, I do not have a fitness model body.  I’m happy to say that my first Fabletics box was a winner on both counts.

The “Eclipse” outfit in the January 2016 collection included the Eiffel tank (shown in Fog) and the Catalina Crop bottoms (shown in Black/Silver).  I realize, cropped pants and a tank top may not have been the most logical choice for January, but it was the outfit that looked the cutest to me.

Eiffel Tank ($24.95) – I really liked the tank top.  It was a super-soft material and moved well when I tested it out at the gym for a little cardio/weight workout.   I also liked that it had a design, but wasn’t too busy.  Since it is January, I didn’t take it outside for a run, but I’m guessing it will be nice to use in the summer on hot days.  The only concern I had is that it did hang a little low in the front when I was in action.  Of course, that is probably a trade-off for having it fit a little loosely, which was my preference when I chose the size.

Catalina Crop ($44.95) – There are a lot of great things about these leggings.  The wide waist band fits nicely and doesn’t roll or cut into your body.  The amount of compression is great for cardio but still comfortable for just hanging out.  I like the idea of the zip pockets on the front of the hips, although I’m not sure how they would actually work in practice.  I’m just not sure I want to have stuff hanging out on the front of my legs.  But the crop length was perfect for my light cardio/weight workout and I think they would also be good on a short run.  Also, there are reflective strips on each leg, a nice safety feature (if it wasn’t January and too cold to run outside in crop pants!).

There were a couple of extras in the box – a sample of Tide Pods and a coupon for $1 off, as well as a coupon for a free bottle of Propel water.  I’m also a coupon junkie, so these small extras were a nice touch.

For the two-piece outfit, using VIP pricing, the cost would be $69.90 – so buying it as an outfit saves about $10.20160111_153501

I told you that I judge exercise clothes on two criteria — are they functional and cute, and do they look OK on me.  This outfit from Fabletics is definitely functional and cute.  More importantly, I like the way it fits and looks on my body.  For a forty-something mom-of-two who likes to eat and drink wine as much as she likes to run and workout, I felt this outfit looked pretty good on me.  The top wasn’t too tight and the bottoms offered good coverage.  I’ll definitely work this outfit (as well as the pieces separately) into my exercise clothes rotation.

I like those leggings! I feel like Fabletics site isn’t always good at showing detail. When they unveiled the outfits, I thought those were simple black capris.
