Unboxing!

Dia & Co is a monthly personal styling subscription for plus-sized women. It’s pretty much just like Stitch Fix for plus sizes – Fill out your profile and sizing information, pay a $20 styling fee (refundable against anything you choose to keep), and have 5 items selected by a stylist sent straight to your home to try on. Dia & Co includes free shipping each way. If you keep all 5 items from your box, you’ll receive a 20% discount.

Unboxing!

The box itself came packaged very neatly.

Price Sheet

It included an invoice showing the price of each item plus my potential discount.

Season's Greetings!

A stylist’s letter (and a seasonal greeting!) was included too. I ordered my first box in mid-December and they sent it right when I was flying home for the holidays.  I chatted their Customer Service online and they extended my deadline to return things to be a few days after my flight home – super nice!

style preferencesIn addition to telling the stylists that I am more of a Classic, Casual, and Retro kind of girl, I also let them know that packability is key due to work travel.  One of the things I think it interesting is they ask you what you DO NOT want in terms of colors and prints, instead of asking what you DO want.  I am curious to see how that plays out over time.  It does force me to be more open minded!

What I got:

Fashion to Figure Moto Skinny Jeans ($48.90)

Mai Tai Twist Long Sleeve Top in Burgundy ($42)

I went for efficiency and did the one boot on, one boot off look so you can see how nice and long the jeans are, but also see how cute they are under boots.  I love boots. (Side note – just got these for a steal at Frugal Fannies – anyone from the Boston Area know it? Frugals is awesome!) I am 5’10, usually need about a 33″ inseam.  These were a great length on me.

Fashion to Figure Moto Skinny Jeans

Check out the detail – these are a super dark blue wash – almost black.  They were a bit snug on me, but zippable.  Too tight to buy, but not too far off.  The fabric was thin, but soft.  I wasn’t a big fan of how I could feel the stitching near all of that detail, but that may not have been an issue if they were a bit bigger.  I am also not a fan of the zipper pocket placement.  I am a big believer that pocket placement can make or break how a pair of jeans looks, and these pockets were a big turnoff for me.

Mai Tai Twist Long Sleeve Top

Shirt is a nice soft fabric, great color.  I can’t believe it, but I didn’t quite fill out the top, which is unusual.  This is sized generously for someone with a substantial bust.  The twist is also pretty forgiving if you’re trying to hide a round tummy.

Fashion to Figure Plaid Sweater in Black/Ivory ($36.90)

Shorter in the front than the back. Not my favorite look – I want to hide my tummy more!

Fashion to Figure Plaid Sweater

This is a mid-weight sweater.  A bit too warm for North Carolina, but probably pretty good a bit further north.  This was a smidge itchy – I would want a cami under it.

KIYONNA Drawstring Cardigan ($58)

It’s like they read my mind! I have been saying to Stitch Fix for a while that I want a green cardigan, and then Dia & Co sends one.  Alas, it isn’t quite what I was hoping for. The fabric is lightweight and soft – more of a jersey than a sweater.  Great for layering! I liked how it curves up in the front, too.

Soft Check Pattern Infinity Scarf ($30)

I am wearing this one as I type this.  Total Keeper! I have been wearing a lot of black tops lately, so this is a way to bring something else to the party. Plus it looks great with my new boots!  Very lightweight, but warm.  If I have to guess, I would say this is acrylic, maybe a blend.  I do a lot of knitting, so it is rare for me to keep a scarf – I can make them!  But something about this one spoke to me.

Overall, I liked but didn’t love my first box. I think the prices are great, especially if I ever get the perfect box and keep all five items.  And I really appreciate the great customer service around my timing snafu.  The representatives were very helpful in making sure I got a reasonable amount of time with my box, since the holidays got in the way!

I got the same green cardigan and wear it constantly! The tying in the front at first I thought was odd, but now I lover that it hides my tummy. I got the plaid sweater in February and adore it. However, it’s been unseasonably warm in KC this year so I won’t be able to wear it until next winter (most likely, I’m really hoping for one last super cold day). I think it’s really interesting that they send subscribers the same stuff.

Thanks for taking pics and actually putting pieces on! It’s very cool to see how the pieces fit others

Jen – you have me checking out my jeans to make sure the pockets look good. You look great and happy in the pictures.

I may have played a significant role in the ridiculousness of her bio. I cannot believe she didn’t change it.

I always enjoy Jen’s Fashion Shows! Did you end up keeping the burgundy top and/or green cardigan? They both looked really nice on you!

Also, is it weird that none of their style descriptions really fit for me?? I mean aspects of a few but… for example:
Classic – trench coats (I want one for work so bad but haven’t found the perfect one), ballet flats (no, since I’m short), pencil skirt (no, b/c I’m short and a “pear” but I like the look on others.)
Traditional – blazers (yes, for work!), knee skirts (not a great length for shorties but I’ve started wearing dress to work around this length), blouses (I have a few for work… but don’t wear them a ton)
Edgy – I have a couple moto jackets and love black, but wear more jewel tones, studs on a purse maybe
Casual – I guess those fit pretty well… mostly
Glamourous – I like some sparkle, shimmer & bling but definitely in a more subtle way.

Oh well, enough about me and my lack of consistent style! lol

Thanks for the encouragement! My poor boy – I make him late for work on the mornings after the clothes arrive because I want to get photos so I can get reviews up and get feedback before my return date! I kept the scarf (and I have used it every day this week!), but I decided to skip the other items. The green cardigan didn’t match enough of my stuff (except for black – I have a lot of black), and I decided the red shirt didn’t “spark joy.” The “spark joy” thing has revolutionized my shopping!

I am between styles too – I like the occasional hippie/flower girl shirt, but as an accent to everything else – it really doesn’t define my style. I am interested to see, over a few shipments, how the “tell us what you don’t like” works for Dia & Co vs the “tell us what you do like” works for Stitch Fix.
