Everything in our October Quilty Box!quilty box october 2015 IMG_2356

The guest curator this month is Angela Walters, from Quilting Is My Therapy! I thought it was completely awesome that she learned to quilt from her husband’s grandpa. She is a fabric designer, quilting teacher, and author.

All the items in the box.quilty box october 2015 IMG_2355

All Things Acrylic Drunkard’s Path Template – 3.5 inch ($11.99) Drunkard’s path is a traditional block is made by sewing a concave curve to a convex curve, and this template is WAY better than paper. WAY. You have to cut out a lot of pieces to create the design and obviously this one is quite durable. It also includes the seam allowance so no futzing around with adding one.

Aurifil Thread ($10) 2 spools of Italian cotton 50wt thread in Arctic Ice and Lemon that match the fat quarters below (and if you look at the everything in the box photo you can see that the fabric was tied together with yellow yarn!).

You can use this for applique, embroidery, handpiecing, and quilting, although it’s probably most suitable for piecing and quilting. I love the lemon with the gray and will make my best friend create something awesome for me!

Drawn Fat Quarter Bundle By Angela Walters Pewter Colorstory by Robert Kaufman ($14.83) Basically you know you’ve made it as a fabric designer if you  have a Robert Kaufman line! I love this modern understated set, which matches many of the colors in my home.

A Modern Twist by Natalie Barnes with Angela Walters ($20.03) At this point I’m in love with Angela Walters because she has a great design aesthetic! This book focuses on projects with crisp modern designs focusing on the interplay of color and pattern on the fabrics.

This is a nice simple bag that you could start with if you’re new to sewing!

Even though some of the projects are “just sewing” they incorporate many quilting techniques, and are useful and pretty, and give great ideas  on what to use that fabric you’ve been eyeing for.

And this project is all about the quilting, which is gorgeous!

This was a great box, and I loved the theming of it. It would make a really awesome gift for a quilter, sewer, or fabric crafter, or a special treat to give yourself if you are one! The total value was about $57, which was great, and I thought that this box would be excellent for beginning or intermediate quilters, as well as hard-core stash builders!
