little lace box august 2015 box
It’s time for a little Pride & Prejudice! The Little Lace Box theme for August was Elizabeth & Mr. Darcy, which is just a fun inspired theme. Little Lace Box is a fun and unique bimonthly subscription box for women.  Every box is hand-curated around an unusual theme and contains beauty, lifestyle, and home products that you will love! It’s one of my favorite boxes because it’s so themed – it’s like getting an experience in a box. I feel challenged to live up to the expectations of my LLB boxes, if that makes any sense. They recently started up Serendipity by LLB, meant to come in the interstitial months. It’s currently free with your Little Lace Box subscription!

Because boxes are themed you don’t necessarily get one item from each of a set of categories like you would in a box like Popsugar or FabFitFun, and I think that’s fine, especially for a long term subscriber. It’s definitely a different sort of box, and a good one if you’re bored with the standard fare. The information that comes with the items is extensive and in a conversational style.

Everything in the August Little Lace Box!

little lace box august 2015 shea butter

Little Lace Box My Shea-Rona Shea Body Butter – Lollabambooza ($19.99) This is a a totally lusciously textured whipped Shea butter body cream. As soon as I opened the lid I oohed over it and tried it out immediately. I have been having issues with itchy legs so I am trying this one out on them ASAP. And it smells fantastic! I am not really sure what Lollabambooza is but I like it!

little lace box august 2015 vase

Mary Rose Young Elizabeth & Mr. Darcy Flower Vase ($106) This vase was commissioned just for this box! The artist said she was inspired by the two lovers and created the vase in period blue (like a lovely Wedgwood) with a rose on each side to represent Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy. The artist Mary Rose Young is a British ceramicist that has her own unique “rose encrusted” style that is wildly popular.

The vase is pricey ($124 on the card including shipping) – I repriced it according to a similar vase on the artist’s site. The information card noted she was the English version of MacKenzie Childs and I have to say I agree!

little lace box august 2015 fragrance

Define Me Perfume Oil – Clara ($36) This fragrance oil in Clara totally brought all things English to mind – and I think this Christmas is the year for A Little Princess (scent was inspiring!)! Anyways the fragrance is a delightful blend of lilac, violet, hibiscus, lily, and musk in a coconut carrier oil with a rollerball. I love fragrance oils in roller balls and I think they are particularly well suited for the more floral fragrances: it’s very true to the authentic scent without being perfumey.

little lace box august 2015 bouqs

TheBouqs.com Bouquet ($40)The final item wasn’t in the box but all subscribers will be receiving their codes this week! All subscribers will be able to select an arrangement from The Bouqs to be delivered when they’d like (code expires 10/31 – plenty of time!). FYI – If you’re not a subscriber and want to test it out, you can save 10% with code AUTUMN10 through 11/30.

I love getting a themed box that is inspired by something delightful but isn’t a fan box – especially since everything is so high quality. I think the box over time tells a fun story and focuses on different areas and it has never felt repetitive. It makes me a little crazy that this box is only bi-monthly because I want it every month! But now we have Serendipity from LLB for the off months! The July Serendipity was a bit delayed and arrived with the August Little Lace Box but I am hoping to receive the September one on time – I really had LLB withdrawals last month! Stay tuned for the Serendipity review

And we have the October theme!

Authentic Autumn – Your Style, Your Way

“Fashion is what you’re offered four times a year by designers. And style is what you choose.” —Lauren Hutton

We love fashion, every single inch of it but we also love it because it allows us to express who we are and that is a beautiful thing.  How many times did you beg to go to the grocery store with your mom in your Disney Princess dress with heels and a tiara?  (Okay, so that was probably just me) but really, if you think about it, it was my best style at 4 years old and I knew it even then.  It made me feel, well, like a Princess and I loved it.  So, for October, we will curate a box of wonderful items that will allow you to get creative and show us your authentic self!  We know you will enjoy!!

OMG That vase!!! I love it so much and just want to look at it for hours! I’m also terrified I’ll break it! This was my favorite LLB!

i have this grand plan to have a red and blue nautical-esque bathroom downstairs, mostly to collect my doodads that fit that more primary scheme (they don’t fit in the rest of my house). but i need to paint and install floating shelves in there first. and before painting i have to redo all my light fixtures.

      so, um.

      but i think it’s great!

oh yeah totally especially since instead of an island light my kitchen has a near flush mount that is over the walkway area between the island and the counter…. and we need to select lights that ARENT FREAKING YELLOW. as a normal person this would annoy me (its dark-ish). as a blogger it’s totally infuriating. yep, i’m selecting new lights for my kitchen to make food easier to photograph. #soweird.
