ipsy august 2015 unboxing

The Ipsy theme for August is “Prep School.” Ipsy is a monthly beauty subscription – get 5 items in a cute bag for $10 a month! It’s the most popular subscription box (even though it’s a bag) with over 1.3 million subscribers and 100k new ones monthly. If you’re an Ipsy fan, be sure to watch for my monthly spoiler posts – I pick one reader randomly from the comments as my referral link for most of the month. Several of the past winners were able to load up on bonus items! Ipsy always comes in a cute pink mailer bag!

Everything in my bag!

Albertini Divine Skin Hydrator ($1.78) In shower treatments must be the new thing (I just got an in-shower tanning lotion in my Birchbox). Rinse conditioner, apply, rinse, pat dry. Interesting!

Eco-Beauty Good Night Night Cream ($11.27) Wooo that’s pricey! I’m glad it came in this style sample, because it’s easier to get every last drop. I generally save these samples for travel so I don’t have to bring anything home, but I may try it anyways, because it looks interesting! Made with collagen-producing peptides, super-hydrating hyaluronic acid, natural shea butter, aloe, antioxidant panthenol, folic acid, vitamin E & an anti-aging botanical complex including maqui berry, licorice root, ginkgo biloba leaf, grape seed & hickory bark.

ipsy august 2015 IMG_7657 Trust Fund Beauty Nail Lacquer – Elegantly Wasted ($15) This is described as a dark lilac, and I didn’t think it was very dark – but I guess if it was darker maybe it wouldn’t be a lilac. This brand has some really great colors, and this is one of them! Nice to get an indie brand and also one that’s non-toxic and cruelty free! Apparently they have their own subscription, too!

Doucce Black Waterproof Eyeliner ($11? It’s not full size) This is a great eyeliner although not black-black like say, the Cynthia Rowley one (that is very similar). I would call it a soft black – and I will be adding this one to my collection – it’s very nice quality and I could use one that’s not so stark.

Hikari Lip Gloss in Merlot ($13) GREAT wine/berry color for me, a tad bit sticky, but I don’t mind. Very pretty, perfect for the theme!

ipsy august 2015 glam bag

A closer look at the bag! In addition to the excellent houndstooth it has a textural pattern. Love it! As usual, the Ipsy value was sort of crazy – $52 in items.  This has been one of my faves so far. I really liked the colors I received this month and it’s such an inexpensive way to try some new brands!

I have been subscriped to Ipsy for 4 months now and am obsessed. I received almost the same bag this month as Brandy but got a leave in conditioner(which works great!) in the place of the in skin hydrator. I love the color of the lip gloss and am excited to wear it! I did try out the night cream and thought it was very hydrating and left my skin feeling smooth.

Thank you for sharing your review! looking forward to the September sneak peek!

🙂 The first one is up now! I am going to do a video review tonight!!! We are doing mine different from Tom’s since most of the items need closeups. Let’s cross our fingers that I don’t sound like an idiot, because he’s just so good at it.

I received the same nail polish & LOVE it! The other items I got were a Noyah lipstick in a peachy color, a lip liner in a wine shade, a volumizing spray, and a facial mask. I was happy with all of the products except the lip liner only because I wouldn’t wear this shade. The bag itself was super cute! Holy wow! I can’t believe Susan B. got 13,000 points with your referral link! It takes me months to get to 1000 and I review everything and share as often as they’ll let me. lol Thank-you for the spoilers and the chance too. 🙂

i think it was a bit more than usual (runs 6-8k typically) because they opened the waitlist, so that was pretty amazing!

This was my first ipsy bag and I was pretty happy with most of it. The nail polish is the clinker for me. I wish I could request NO POLISHES. I’m going stay subscribed even though I’m also getting glossybox and birchbox. One of those probably won’t make the cut. At $10, ipsy is too good to pass up.

I got the night cream you got, and the nail polish (I know you like purple, but I don’t care for it – and especially dislike this shade of lilac/lavender/orchid – the orchid crayon in my box was always the one left looking new because I hated the color so much even as a child). I also got a Noyah lipstick in dusty rose, a somewhat odd lip liner/eye liner dual purpose pencil in wine (not quite sure about this idea) and Blossom & Bloom Ginseng + Biotin Volumizer spray. Since I don’t use eyeliner, I guess I’ll try the pencil as a lip liner- can’t quite imagine a wine eyeliner anyway.

As a recipient of your referral points giveaway, I can report that I ended up with about 13,000 points, more or less. They evidently had one day where they gave double referral points, since I saw that 2 referrals showed 500 points each instead of the normal 250. I got something like 6 extra products this month (I ought to go take a picture, I guess) and already have at least that many redeemed for next month, with a lot of points to go. It seems like ipsy sometimes posts new rewards a couple times a day and other times waits several days between postings – I’ve become somewhat fanatic about checking as I missed a few things they added at odd times of day. Thanks again!
