nerd block Nerd Block is a geek & gamer subscription box straight out of Canada. Every month includes a new shirt and Nerd Block boxes are typically filled with fun toys and figurines. It really is a box for everyone who enjoys nerdy and pop culture things.

info card

The April box was 80s themed, so I just had to pick one up!

information card

The front of the card usually features an exclusive or special item and the rest are on the back. I generally like this card and it looks nice! No values, though. This box is $19.99 per month, which is a steal, until you add on the $9.50 shipping. Ouch! Better deals are available with longer term subscriptions.
nerd block april 2015

Everything in this month’s Growing Up 80’s  Nerd Block!

kevin smith book

Kevin Smith’s Tough Shit: Life Advice from a Fat, Lazy Slob Who Did Good ($13.30) I found this amusing given his recent (voice) cameo on Big Bang Theory (was that real?). I admit that I’m a semi-fan but it’s hard to pick out why his work succeeds. My husband will enjoy reading this book (and FYI, because there are junior blocks available for kids, sometimes you may find an item like this in the block that you wouldn’t necessarily want a child to have. I recommend if you do get this box for a child to review it yourself first).

Nerd Play Cosplay Trading Cards ($4) Nerd Block is going to have an e-store and these will be available for sale exclusively through the store – they are the first in an exclusive line of cosplayer fan merch. I admit I haven’t opened mine to hunt for the rare foil card!

ghostbusters car

Titan Merchandise Exclusive Ghostbusters Ecto-1 Vinyl Car ($17.89) This car is not available from Titan until May 31! I’m guessing on the price based on the Tardis figure.

ghostbusters car detail

This has great detail and is a really fun addition to a nerdy vinyl collection!

back to the future shirt

88 Miles Per Hour T-Shirt ($15) So fast. That is, of course, the speed necessary to activate the flux capacitor, and I absolutely love how they show all three versions in a design that is absolutely totally 80s. I actually haven’t reviewed a Nerd Block in over a year, and I didn’t recall the shirt being so rough. I went back and looked at my Nerd Block Reviews and for sure previous shirts were nice and soft. I wished this one was too.

pac man mug

Pac-Man Heat Change Mug ($12.40) FYI, this mug isn’t dishwasher or microwave safe! This is cool but I wonder about it’s durability. However, it will be fun while it lasts!

I came up with an exceptionally high value for the April box – around $62. I was impressed by this! I thought the items were good and it does appear that there will be a book in every Nerd Block Classic. My only disappointment was the shirt fabric. FYI, there will be a NEW block released tomorrow (Monday) and I’m really anxious to see what it is. Theme spoilers for May have already been released (Anime – see my May Nerd Block Spoilers post here).

I checked these coupon codes 2 days ago, they should still be up: Right now code WAXON  is working to save 15% on your first block! You may also be able to take $4.50 off your first block with code RETURN! Save 10% on the first block of your Nerd Block Classic subscription by using the code SUPERHERO.

I think the May box is going to be good and I’m going to stay subscribed! And of course order the brand new block!

I didn’t order this box because I wasn’t impressed with the Collectible Geek 80s box. Now I wish I did. I love the PacMan mug! I must be the only person who doesn’t own a dishwasher. The shirt and Ghostbusters vinyl car brings back memories. I would had enjoyed this box and even read the book although I am not a big Kevin Smith fan.
