December’s Green Kid Crafts Theme was Geography. While it looked like 4 projects, I felt that it was really more like 2.

My daughter enjoyed this information card a lot! She read every bit, sounded out the words, found the pictures on the box, and drew clothes on the traveler (she’s 6).

The materials for the 2 projects came in plastic bags. Here’s what Green Kid Crafts says about the materials they use:

What types of materials do you use, and where do they come from?

Some of our favorite green materials include recycled felt, recycled paper, and recycled ribbon. We also love to include natural materials like wool, yarn, colored sand, clay, canvas, noodles, cruelty-free feathers, shells, jute twine, cotton fabrics, and wood.  We always avoid craft foams and plastics. We source project materials and packaging supplies from reputable, earth friendly companies that have a green standard. We also acquire materials from local businesses, accepting donated items from them that would otherwise go into the landfill, like scrap fabrics and felts. We do our best to find the most sustainable components available, however in rare occasions we need to use non-toxic, conventional materials because there are no other viable options. We also try hard to make sure all materials are made in the U.S.A. We hope that by being honest about the challenges that we face we will encourage craft suppliers to make positive changes. And, as we grow, we intend to use our buying power to continue supporting companies that are already providing green materials, and to accelerate change within those that do not.

The kids had fun with the geography game and the poster was cute.

One of the “projects” was a recipe book with cookie cutter, and while it was nice, it wasn’t what I expected from this box. December boxes can be different, so I decided to review one more box before making up my mind on this one!

World Flags Activity – I was surprised by the use of foam for this activity and thought that felt could have been a better choice? My daughter did the Netherlands flag all by herself and enjoyed it, but we didn’t complete this one (we tested it out at Grandma’s house).IMG_7607

The box came with two additional bonuses – this Energy Star/Lorax poster and a $40 Hello Fresh bonus card. FYI You can save $40 on Hello Fresh by using my code: 7UT7K8

Our first box came today. January has about 4 things to make, but one takes extra materials we don’t have like Borax. The terrarium is a big hit, but the drum activity did not work out. BEWARE the cup will break when you try to put the balloon on it.

I still need to take photos of the kids’ crafts. We didn’t have that problem the first time, but did when my daughter wanted to put water inside the drum.
