Dia & Co is a monthly personal styling subscription for plus-sized women. It’s pretty much just like Stitch Fix for plus sizes – Fill out your profile and sizing information, pay a $20 styling fee (refundable against anything you choose to keep), and have 5 items selected by a stylist sent straight to your home to try on. Dia & Co includes free shipping each way. If you keep all 5 items from your box, you’ll receive a 20% discount.

The box itself came packaged very neatly.

It included an invoice showing the price of each item plus my potential discount.

A stylist’s letter was included, too. This is my second box, and I think it is a good indication they have sizing down pretty well, especially on pants, which I think is the hardest thing to get right.

style preferencesIn addition to telling the stylists that I am more of a Classic, Casual, and Retro kind of girl, I also let them know that packability is key due to work travel.  One of the things I think it interesting is they ask you what you DO NOT want in terms of colors and prints, instead of asking what you DO want.  I am curious to see how that plays out over time.  It does force me to be more open minded!sneak peek

What I got:

Modamix Metallic Dress Black Combo ($129) One of my friends once told me that one of the first times he let his three year old daughter dress herself, she came out wearing two very loud flower print pieces.  He tried to explain to her they didn’t go together, but her logic was “But they are both flowers!” I think she was spot on.  So, with that in mind, I saw this dress and immediately thought, “I must put this on with the most awesome Converse All-Stars in the world!” And so, sequins with sequins.

I would not do this in real life. But this is blog life, so it's ok.

Seriously, aren’t these awesome?

All of that to say, this one didn’t really do it for me, but at least I had some fun with it!  For those interested, the front was all sequins, but not super heavy, and the back was more of a sweater-knit material. I might have been more into it as a shirt, rather than a dress. I did like how it was three colors, not just one.

Zenobia Tabbed Sleeve Blouse with Pocket in Black ($38)

Olivia Necklace in Gold  ($35)

Junarose Slim Jeans in Gray ($109)

It’s an outfit! I love it when boxes send stuff that coordinates.  I don’t generally expect it – after all, part of the fun of a box is making things match with what you already have at home.  But sometimes it is fun to just feel like you’re getting a new outfit!

black top, grey jeans, necklace

First, the shirt. This was a nice fit – it isn’t anything amazing, but who can’t use a good black shirt? The material was soft, non-stretchy. I think it hits me in a good spot, and I love me some three-quarter length sleeves.

Next, the necklace. I was excited when I saw the box in my box (more surprises!). This is a great versatile piece. Glam enough for nighttime, but fun enough for daytime. It’s kind of deco, which is right up my alley.

Jeans.  Jeans!  JEANS! I love the color of these. I love the itty bitty sequin detail on the pocket (though, that will probably be my little secret, because I wear longer shirts and no one will ever see that).  The only thing I am a little unsure about is the pockets.  I think butt pockets make or break a pair of jeans, and these aren’t quite as low as I like my pockets.  But I love everything else.

Sorry for the exposure – it was super dark in my room when I took these pictures. The top left is most true to color.  And bottom left is how they look tucked into my most favorite of all boots.

Fashion to Figure Patterned Cardigan in Blue ($42.90)

Here are the jeans again, too!

This one didn’t really do it for me.  If you live somewhere chilly, this would be a great heavier-weight cardigan, but for North Carolina, this is overkill.  (Well, except for this weekend.  I actually had to break out the snow boots from my storage locker. Brrrr.) It’s a double knit (two layers), with lots of bulk in the front. This would be very forgiving on someone trying to tuck away a tummy.

Overall, I think my second box was an improvement over my first (although, I have been wearing my scarf from the first box a few times a week). I am definitely considering keeping the necklace and jeans.  I think the prices are great, especially if I ever get the perfect box and keep all five items.

[Update from Brandy – I didn’t let Jen keep the necklace, I sorta already have it!]

I read it mainly to see your footwear. Love it! Did you keep the jeans?

Ha! You’re too funny. I might run out of footwear soon, and then where will I be? I ended up not keeping the jeans, but of course now I am half-regretting it. But I asked for more in my next box, so maybe the next round will be a winner.
