Honey by David Ezra Stein ($11.99)

Handpicked by Amazon kids’ books editor, Seira Wilson, for Prime Book Box – a children’s subscription that inspires a love of reading.

This sweet companion to David Ezra Stein’s award-winning Leaves celebrates the joy of savoring something you love.

Bear is ravenous when he wakes up from his winter sleep and has one thing on his mind: honey! Alas, it is too soon for honey, so Bear tries hard to be patient. The world around him is waking up, too, and he soon remembers all the other things he loves, like warm grass, berries, and rain. He’s almost content, until, one day, he hears a welcome buzzing sound . . . and finally it is time for Bear to delight in the thing he relishes above all others–and it is as warm, golden, sweet, and good as he remembered.

The back of the book included some good words and reviews for the story.

It’s a good book to read to toddlers when teaching them about seasons.

It’s a simple story made interesting by the cute illustrations. When Bear woke up from his winter sleep, he was hungry so he looked for honey but couldn’t find any. It’s because plants don’t produce nectar and pollen in winter, so bees can’t produce honey!

It also imparts a lesson about waiting. As the old saying goes, good things come to those who wait. When winter was finally over, Bear couldn’t be happier to enjoy the golden and sweet honey!

The Forever Tree by Tereasa Surratt and Donna Lukas ($11.65)

A fresh twist on Shel Silverstein’s The Giving Tree based on a real tree in Wisconsin that became something more, this is a timeless story about loss and renewal at home and in nature.

“This is a true story about a Tree that grew from something more than water and sunshine. It grew from love.”

The animals and humans always knew their tree was special. The trunk was the best place to host championship bingo tournaments, and the branches were perfect for swinging in the shade!

But when the tree gets sick, neighbors new and old will have to join forces if they have any chance of saving their treetop home.

A touching tale based on the true story of one special tree, and the community that brought it back to life.

The back of the book has a very nice image of the tree and the people around it!

It’s based on a true story of a special tree, and how the community brought it back to life.

The tree in the story is not just useful to humans, but to animals as well. When the tree got sick, everyone joined forces to save their treetop home.

The tree grew from the love of everyone around it! It’s such a heartwarming story, perfect for bedtime reading.

The Elephant’s Garden by Jane Ray ($16.95)

A humorous fantasy story of greed set in a small Indian village, stunningly illustrated and retold by award-winning artist Jane Ray.
Jasmine’s garden has the most delicious fruit in the village—but someone is eating all her beautiful apples and apricots, kiwis and kumquats, papayas and peaches. Determined to discover the thief’s identity, Jasmine waits . . . and waits. Little does she imagine that when he arrives, he’ll lead her on a magical journey through the skies.
Using vibrant collage artwork with jewel-like colors, Jane Ray has outdone herself by creating a beautiful new style.

The back of the book presented us with the conflict of the story. It’s about Jasmine and she wonders who is eating all the best fruits in her garden.

The book’s dust jacket shows us more of the author’s other works plus some good reviews.

When Jasmine found who eats the best fruits from her garden, the unexpected guest led her to a magical journey through the skies! The illustrations are so pretty!

The author even outdid herself by using an art style using vibrant collage artwork with jewel-like colors. They’re really beautiful!

It’s great to nurture the kids’ love for reading at a young age, and Owl Post Books is one of the best subscriptions for that. They provide great books with fun illustrations and valuable lessons. Some of the books we received this month are great for bedtime reading while others are perfect for vocabulary building! Everything was a hit with my kids!
