This box is really decorated inside and out. While the outside has little food items on it, the inside is full of bright green words. Plastic wrap and brown butcher paper keep all the contents safe.
May’s box has a fun picnic box theme, and it is filled with food items that are ideal for springtime snacking.

Zeo Soft Drinks (£1.19) are natural, low calorie soft drinks made with fruits, botanicals and sparkling spring water. I tried the orange and mango flavour which was quite nice and a good light alternative to fruit juice. I did find that it had a bit of an aftertaste from the natural sweetener steviol glycoside, so if you are sensitive to the taste of alternative sweeteners this may not be the drink for you.
Crabbie’s Original Alcoholic Ginger Beer (4% abv) (£1.89) is, of course, the UK’s number 1 alcoholic Ginger Beer. This refreshing summer beverage has a nice bit of heat from real steeped ginger and exotic spices. If you love ginger then it is a no-brainer you will like this.
Cadbury Dairy Milk Peanut Caramel Crisp (£3.49) is part of the new Big Taste range. There’s no doubt about it, this is one big bar of chocolate.
This giant milk chocolate bar is filled with a winning combination of peanuts, caramel and a crispy peanut filling that is most definitely big enough to share. I really liked this; the taste is reminiscent of a Snickers bar, but without the nougat.
MOMA Gluten Free Raspberry & Coconut Bircher Musesli (£3.20) a speedy alternative to overnight oats. All you do is add yogurt and apple juice to the muesli mix, which contains oats with fruits and seeds, let it sit for 5 minutes and eat. I prepared my museuli using greek style yogurt and coconut milk as I didn’t have any apple juice on hand. This was delicious, the oats had a silky smooth texture and it had just the right amount of sweetness with a great burst of raspberry flavour. When served with some fresh sliced fruits, it makes a perfect breakfast.
Millions Sour Strawberry (£.60) are tiny little pink balls that are tart and super chewy. These had a nice tang but they really stick to your teeth!
The box also contains two packs of Chocolate Covered Strawberry Millions (£.50). These are balls of chewy strawberry candy with a milk chocolate coating. The chocolate isn’t the highest quality, so if you’re a dark chocolate lover or picky about the quality of your chocolate then this isn’t the best choice for you. Even so, the combination of chewy strawberry centre with smooth milk chocolate is a nice one.
Cereal Lovers Crunch Time Nuggets (£1.59) are snacking granola in a handy resealable pouch. I received the ‘Forest’ flavour which is a mix of oats, seeds & malt granola.
The use of wheat flour helps to form the unique nuggest clusters, which are easier to snack on than granola made with mostly oat flakes. The nuggets are sweet from demerara, brown sugar and treacle, but you can also really taste the mix of different seeds and a distinct malty flavour. This snack was okay, but probably not something I would buy again.
Deli Kitchen Skinni Wrap (£1.25) is a wheat wrap made with plain and wholemeal flour with a unique shape for easy folding. Each wrap has just 91 calories, which is about half the calories of the wraps I usually buy. We used these to make egg burritos as well as feta and veggie wraps with great success.
The pentagonal shape make these much easier to roll up than a regular round wrap, and easier to hold too. They’re also very thin and pliable, so you can fit a surprisingly large amount of filling in each one. I would definitely recommend these as a lighter wrap alternative.
Homepride Strong White Bread Flour (£1.50) is made from 100% British wheat. I haven’t tried using this flour to make the basic crusty white loaf recipe that was included with the box, but I use Homepride all-purpose flour on a regular basis so trust this is also a good product.
Hippeas In Herbs We Trust (£1.50) are an organic chickpea puff snack.
At just 91 calories a bag and containing fibre and protein, this is a pretty healthy snack. The herb flavour isn’t very pronounced and at first I thought it was kind of bland, but the subtle flavour grows on you. This is an understated and tasty snack.
Portlebay Popcorn Sweet Thai Sriracha Crunchy Kracklecorn (£.79) is hand popped in Devon using 100% natural ingredients. This was so so delicious! It has a nice sweet and crisp coating from unrefined raw cane sugar and a good bit of heat from sriracha seasoning. At only 115 calories per serving and considering that popcorn is a wholegrain and high in fibre, this is a healthy snack option. To me, the combination of sweet, spicy and crunchy was absolutely perfect and this is a product I would certainly buy again.
Candy Kittens (£3.00) produce gourmet British sweets. The packaging is stylish, tasteful and practical. I received the Sour Watermelon flavour in my Degustabox (the other flavours are Sweet Pineapple, Eton Mess and Sour Blueberry, all of which sound delicious).
I love sour sweets and I love watermelon flavoured things, so these were as yummy as I’d hoped they’d be! They are sweet and tart, with a nice watermelon flavour. They’re really not all that sour, but tasty nonetheless.
Bean Bags (price not specified) are single serve eco-friendly (biodegradable), pyramid-shaped bags filled with raw bean 100% arabica ground coffee. They are basically like posh tea bags but filled with delicious coffee instead of tea leaves. So simple, yet ingenious! Why has no one done this before??
The flavour I received was ‘Striking El Salvador’, a single origin medium strength coffee with a rich, fruity flavour with dark chocolate tones. This was very good. A proper cup of coffee but without all the mess of loose grounds and a machine or cafetiere, making it ideal for the office or just when you’re in a hurry.
The picnic box was a big hit for me, introducing some new snacks I will most definitely return to again.
