3B, which stands for Beauty Beyond Borders, is an Asian cosmetics subscription. For just $12 per month, you’ll receive a collection of 4-5 deluxe samples that are new or popular in Asia but hard to get your hands on. Sample products that range from go-to brands such as Lioele, Etude House, and Skinfood to high-end premium brands like SK-II, Kanebo, and Sulwhasoo. Between the 8th and 10th of each month, you’ll receive notification that your box has shipped. Also, find tips and more information on key ingredients through 3b’s social pages.

#skincaregoals – Mask, Hydrate, Sleep, Repeat is the January 3b Box theme. This month’s items are all about hydrating tired, winter-worn skin. All products (that fit) are packed inside a mesh bag. Anything too big for the bag sits in the box.

The information card contains a brief description of the products and directions for use. This is helpful if you are not fluent in the product’s native language. The prices noted below are from 3b, unless noted otherwise (the card shows prices for full-sized items).

Rice Soothing Gel Mask | 23.5° N ($6.00): 23.5° N is a highly sought after Taiwanese brand, and this mask is one of their best sellers! It is packed with Vitamins B1, B2, and ceramide to nourish skin and fight aging. This mask is said to work wonders on irritated and sensitive skin. To use, apply a thin layer on your skin and rinse after 15-20 minutes. It can also be worn as a sleep pack overnight and rinsed off in the morning.

Ultimate Anti-Aging Facial Mask | Hada Labo Tokyo ($4.00): The serum for this mask contains Super Hyaluronic Acid, a proprietary combination of 3 types of Hyaluronic Acid to restore hydration and strengthen skin’s moisturizing levels. I received Hada Labo’s Anti-Aging Hydrator in the November 3b Box. The serum for this mask is similar to that.

Extreme Moisture Mineral Cloud-Silk Mask | For Beloved Girl ($3.00): This is another Taiwanese product. The mask serum contains the moisturizing and skin replenishing ingredients of hyaluronic acid, sodium PCA, and sodium lactate to retain moisture and keep skin glowing. While I don’t suffer from dry skin, I think this will be a good pick-me-up mask when my skin is feeling the effects of winter weather.

Golden Root Purifying Mud Mask | WEI ($5.00): Hello, friend. If you’ve read some of my reviews, you’ll know that I appreciate a good mud mask. There’s something about unearthing my face that I love. This mask has a kaolin base loaded with golden root, green tea, and reishi mushroom extracts among its ingredients. And, what’s the best thing to use after the mask? The WEI Five Sacred Grains Rapid Glow Milk that I received in last month’s box!

MadeCera Express Mask | SkinRx Lab ($6.00): This microfiber mask contains a serum formulated with madecassoside – a plant extract with antioxidant and skin revitalizing properties. It also has ceramide and dimethicone to hydrate skin and lock in moisture. (Brandy – I’m holding this one for you. ?)

Weather Warrior Hydrating Facial Sheet Mask | MaskerAide ($7.00): Extreme weather can wreak havoc on delicate facial skin. This mask contains a nourishing cocktail of aloe, green tea, witch hazel, and argan oil to help soothe, calm, and heal your skin. 3b has provided some tips to improve your comfort with the mask – pop the unopened pouch in the freezer for a few minutes to enhance its cooling effects or place the pouch in hot water to soothe winter skin.

January’s 3B Box is valued at $31. With regards to the theme…

  • mask (✔️)
  • hydrate (✔️)
  • sleep (depends on if you’re asking if I get enough sleep or referring to using 23.5° N Rice Soothing Gel Mask as a sleep pack)
  • repeat (plenty of masks to go around!)

I liked this month’s box and am so happy to have gotten the Golden Root mask. There’s no reason for me to have dry skin this winter thanks to 3b. Have you tried 3b yet? What was your favorite box item? Share a comment below with your thoughts.

On a side note: Before trying any Asian cosmetics subscription, expect that most information on the package will be in the native language. That said, more and more brands are including directions/ingredients in English, and information can also be found in English on the majority of brands’ websites (you may have to choose a brand’s global or US site). Secondly, a large number of products focus on brightening or whitening the skin. As a person of color, I have not seen my skin color change. Instead, I’ve experienced that my skin tone gets evened out after prolonged use.  However, your results may be different. And lastly, many products contain ingredients which are animal-derived, so these may not be an option if you are vegan. You can also check out cosDNA.com to see if the ingredients for the product are listed there.
