My Texas Market is a monthly subscription that sends a curated collection of small batch artisanal goods produced in Texas to your home. I was so excited to receive this box! As someone who moved to Texas a few years ago, I have come to believe that all things are better in Texas, and what better way to prove it than to sample some local fare?
The theme for September 2016 was Back to School! My kids’ school just started this month, so we’re still adjusting to our new schedule. Hopefully the items in this box will help ease our final transition.
I can’t wait to try out these products!
I love how My Texas Market sources small batch, artisan goods from farmers’ markets and local Texas businesses each month and gives 10% of their profits to the Houston Food Bank!
September’s box contains a muffin mix, hand sanitizer, bookmark, granola snacks and bath soak–just what we need during this busy back to school time!
Whole Note’s Gluten-Free Create-a- Muffin Mix ($3) is the tastiest gluten-free baking mix I’ve ever used.
I followed the directions and added a bunch of frozen wild blueberries to the batter to make my muffins. The results were yummy. Had I not made these myself, I never would have guessed that these were made from a gluten-free mix.
Sasha’s Lavender Hand Sanitizer Spray ($4.50) smelled like lavender. My skin tingled for a bit just after application, but then that sensation went away. My hands certainly felt clean after I used this!
Sweet Thyme Design’s Inspire Bookmark ($12) is repurposed from a vintage piece of flatware in Austin, Texas.
Handstamped by Chelsea Bumgarner in her studio in Austin, this lovely piece would work well as a place marker for large books.
Kitchun’s No-Grain-Ola in You’re the Apple of my Chai and Holy-Coco-Cacao ($6 total) was delicious!
Although my favorite flavor was the Holy-Coco-Cacao (I could eat that all day every day!), I still enjoyed both mixes.
Next time, I’ll treat the Apple of my Chai flavor as a snack and eat it straight from the bag (I treated it as granola and ate it with milk this time around).
Sam Wish’s Goddess of the Sea Bath Soak ($10) is made up of salts and organic herbs and botanicals. I added it to my bath to cap off a busy day. It doesn’t get much better than that!
My Texas Market is one of my favorite subscription boxes! Texas has so many great makers, and I think that the individuals behind this box do a great job each month selecting different artisan products from across the state. I can’t wait to see what they send next month!
