Birchbox is a beauty sample subscription box with at least 5 new items to test out each month. Birchbox is $10 a month and formerly featured an extensive points/review system that they have removed in favor of 50 points total ($5 in the shop). You can find more about the Birchbox review program changes here.
Every month you can select between a sample choice to get a box tailored to your profile, or a pre-curated box. This is the regular box which includes my sample choice!
The information card gives brief details on each item. You can visit Birchbox.com/MyBox to easily see the details of your box, which I recommend because sometimes they have videos on the item product pages which I find useful.
Everything in my box! I love that Birchbox realizes that summer is still going on. Sometimes I’m all YES FALL Y’ALL but mostly I’m still enjoying the last weeks summer! (As a mom with school age kids it ends in exactly 20 days.)
MannaKadar Cosmetics Eyeshadow from the Day Dream Palette (~$5.50) Well at least its not the Manna Kadar Highlighter/Bronzer split pan (in at least 7 boxes this past month!) I couldn’t bring myself to swatch this when I just opened a gorgeous shadow in my ipsy and chose to regift to a friend in need of some basic shadows. The reviews say this came smashed to bits for most people. so I’ll just be grateful for the good fortune.
Avene Micellar Lotion Cleanser and Make-Up Remover ($1.76) This is a 3-in-1 cleanser, makeup remover, and toner! It totally works and even as a mascara remover!
Profile PRO Ultra Nourishing Oil ($2.30) This non-greasy oil totally tames frizz and was a necessary item for August! It wasn’t the best oil I have ever used and I would never use that much of it but this is nice say, for a Florida trip!
REN Flash Hydro-Boost Instant Plumping Emulsion ($10.50) This product is just plain odd! You rub it in to your skin, wet your fingers, and then rub your wet fingers all over your face. It feels great on and really hydrates, plus it’s a total novelty item (and also more expensive than the price of the box!).
R+Co BADLANDS Dry Shampoo Paste ($3.18) This was my sample choice product – I just had to test it out. It felt like a lip balm, except a matte lip balm. It uses coconut and other oils plus zeolite powder, which I think was new to me, for balancing the oil levels on your hair. This is a super great travel friendly texturizer & all-around second day hair product. The jury is still out on this product for me – I think I like it but it’s a little tricky for fine hair, and I would rather use a spray.
The value of my box this month was $23, which was fine, and totally worth it to me to test out some new products at a great price without the hassle of in-store shopping!

I actually picked the dry shampoo balm thing but didn’t get it.. my August box was a total disaster. I received a large box that had my add ons but no monthly box.. I contacted customer service and, after 2 weeks and 2 different reps, I got a new box shipped out .. I ended up getting one with the regular shampoo and a packet of “gel conditioner” which stripped my hair and an eye shadow that was pulverized within the plastic compact… needless to say, I was NOT thrilled with Birchbox for August..
My birchbox was completely different.
