The latest BoxyCharm by Ipsy is here! The theme was The Secret Garden and I received 5 new products that included an eyeshadow palette, a mascara, and more. See all of my items below! Please keep in mind that BoxyCharm by Ipsy sends out lots of different box combos so my products may vary from yours. Plus, subscribers get to choose three of their five items (the other two are chosen by Ipsy). My box was chosen for me so it doesn’t always match my beauty needs and preferences but subscribers have more control over their box!

Eight Saints Soulmate Brightening Treatment ($68) is meant to be used after cleansing and before moisturizing. It’s supposed to hydrate with hyaluronic acid and help dead skin cells shed quickly with glycolic acid. It’s free of fragrance but has a natural citrus smell thanks to various plant essential oils and extracts. It’s a creamy texture but it dries down to a non-sticky matte. Best for oily to normal skin.

Lovescript Sugarplum Body Polish ($28) I like body polishes but this was a shower gel with a slightly gritty texture that did nothing to exfoliate my skin and that didn’t leave behind a greasy feel, it was easy to rinse. Pair this with a shower sponge or loofah just like you would a regular shower gel. It smells floral and the scent fades quickly. The price seems high for such a small amount of non-scrubby gel, although the container felt solid (and wasn’t glass so I didn’t have to worry about it breaking in my shower).

Polite Society Greatest Lashes of All Time Mascara ($27) I received two mascaras this month between my three beauty boxes and this was the better of the two. It’s supposed to add length, volume, lift, and more and I thought it did a good job on my lashes. I liked the color and feel of the tube too for some reason, it felt hefty in my hand, like I had barbells for my lashes. It was still in place at the end of the day!

Half Caked The Script + Primer + Lip Liner in Half-Life ($18) is two products in one, a lip primer and liner. I received the shade Half-Life, which is described as a “light, pinky nude with a soft matte finish”. I applied the primer first, then applied the liner to the edges of my lips. You can continue to color in lips with the liner and call it a day or top with lipstick or gloss, which is what I did. It wore off in the same amount of time as usual, and I’m not sure if it kept anything from feathering on my lips, I didn’t check but I liked this product and the color worked for me.

Ciate London I Am Woman 24 Shade Eyeshadow Palette V2 ($45) I’m sorry to say it but Ciate isn’t a brand I get excited about. This is a huge palette with lots of shades, but sadly a lot of them are from the orange/red/brown family and those don’t work for me. The mattes have a lot of fall out and go on patchy with little pigmentation. The shimmers settled all around my eyes and cheeks. Also, I’m about to go on vacation and a lot of the palettes I own are huge and filled with colors I can’t wear, so they’re not travel-friendly. It would be a pain to touch up before happy hour or whatever too.

Swatched on top is the lip liner from Half Caked and a few of the shades I would use from the Ciate palette are underneath the liner.

Overall I was happy with my May BoxyCharm by Ipsy shipment! I especially liked the Polite Society mascara, the tube felt solid in my hand and the product coated my lashes and made them more noticeable than usual. I also liked the Lovescript body gel, but I realize that the only way it’s going to exfoliate my skin is if I put it on a loofah before scrubbing. The Half Caked lip primer and liner was another winner, I will reach for it all summer long. The Eight Saints brightening treatment isn’t something that I would typically use, but maybe it will help lighten those spots on my arms. Although the Ciate palette wasn’t something I would reach for very often, I’m sure it will get used, but I will make sure to use a heavy layer of powder under my eyes to keep the fall out from sticking. The value for my box was around $186, which seems high but then the products all come from their brands’ websites and they tend to overvalue their products.
