All About Freshly

Freshly meals are all three – ready in minutes, delicious, and nutritious! Each meal is crafted with less sugar, less processed ingredients, and more nutrients. They’re chef-cooked and nutritionist-approved, so there’s nothing to worry about except devouring your meals!

How does Freshly work?

Freshly is a meal delivery subscription that sends fresh (not frozen) single-serve prepared meals a week. It only requires three steps to start the subscription: pick a plan, choose your meals, then heat & eat.

Subscribers can choose as few as 4 meals per week or as many as 12 meals. They have a rotating menu of 50+ balanced meals, giving you more meal choices for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. You can also filter the menu by diet (gluten-free, carb-conscious, plant-based, dairy-free), category (Full Menu, Purely Plant, Signature Collection, FreshlyFit, Proteins & Sides), and nutritional macros (calories, carbs, protein, total fat, sodium).

Fill your box with the exact meals you want to eat and enjoy, then repeat. All it takes is 3 minutes or less to heat your meals. No shopping and no cooking! Plus, cleanup is a breeze too! You can also easily pause, cancel or change your plan at any time.

How much does Freshly cost?

The price for each Freshly shipment depends on how many meals per week you order. Meals are priced for as low as $8.99 each. The bigger the box you choose, the bigger the savings you’ll get. You can save up to $12 for 6-7 meals, up to $20 for 8-9 meals, up to $27 for 10-11 meals, and up to $33 for 12 meals. Shipping fees and taxes apply upon checkout.

Here’s a breakdown of the meal plans:

  • 4-5 meals a week – $11.79/meal + $9.99 shipping
  • 6-7 meals a week – $9.99/meal + $9.99 shipping
  • 8-9 meals a week – $9.49/meal + $9.99 shipping
  • 10-11 meals a week – $9.29/meal + $10.99 shipping
  • 12 meals a week – $8.99/meal + $11.99 shipping

Breakfast items are priced from $7.99 to $8.99, regardless of the plan.

Where can I buy Freshly?

You can order a meal box weekly through Freshly’s official website. Choose a plan, pick a delivery date, select your meals, and that’s it! Once your box arrives on your doorstep, refrigerate the meals, decide what you want to eat, reheat in 3 minutes or less, and enjoy, then repeat.

How is Freshly packaged?

Freshly uses modified atmospheric packaging to keep your meals cool for two full days of shipping, plus another 12 hours waiting at your door. The meals come in Go-Green, microwave-safe plastic containers, sealed tightly with light plastic film and wrapped in a cardboard sleeve that acts as the label.

They’re stacked neatly in the box with denim insulation and gel ice packs to keep the meals cool until you refrigerate them. Boxes, plastic containers, and cardboard sleeves are biodegradable, while denim insulation is biodegradable at roughly 85%. Also, the gel ice packs in the box are non-toxic.

What products does Freshly sell?

Freshly is a meal delivery service that sells fresh, not frozen, prepared meals. They offer breakfast, lunch, and dinner meal choices with gluten-free, dairy-free, carb-conscious, and plant-based options. You can choose from the 4-5 meals box, 6-7 meals box, 8-9 meals box, 10-11 meals box, or 12 meals box.

Some of the meals offered include Sausage Baked Penne, Golden Oven-Fried Chicken and Mash, Sesame Ginger Chicken & Noodles, Chicken Cordon Bleu, and Cuban Mojo Shrimp.

Can I send Freshly as a gift?

Gifting Freshly is possible too! You can share the gift of healthy meal choices by sending a gift card to loved ones. Gift cards are available in increments of $25 to $500. You can also choose a design for your gift card for added fun. They’ll send it to your gift recipient, and they can choose their meals and delivery day. Here’s a quick tip: a $50 gift card = 5 meals.

My Freshly Review

Freshly offers heat-and-eat, chef-cooked meals and delivers them straight to your door. This meal subscription focuses on healthy meals by making sure their recipes use less sugar, less processed ingredients, and more nutrients. Each meal is a single-serving and meant to feed an average adult. They even accommodate a variety of dietary preferences, including gluten-free and peanut-free options. The meals refrigerated shelf life is about 3-5 days. However, select items (such as seafood) are best eaten first and they usually indicate it on the package.

The food comes in a refrigerated box, surrounded by ice packs, and snuggled up in an insulated blanket made from recycled denim. The insulation and the rest of the packing are all recyclable.

I picked 6 meals out of the 30 options, and they’re the Flame-Seared Top Blade Steak, A Lick-In-The-Bowl Delicious Dish, Shrimp and Andouille Paella, Escovitch Steak, Chicken Tikka Masala, and Salsa Verde Chicken Enchilada.

Each meal is nicely sealed to maintain its freshness.

Flame-Seared Top Blade Steak with Green Pea Risotto and Parmesan Crumble. Great whether for lunch or dinner, this premium steak meal is paired with greens to take it to another level. It has 31g of carbs, and it’s also soy-free, high-protein, and gluten-free.

The bottom of the box features all the essential information like nutrition facts, ingredients, and heating instructions. This one has 610 calories per serving.

Top blade steak, also known as flat iron steak, is one of the most under-appreciated steak cuts.

This is really good, and I love how flavorful the steak is. It’s surprisingly tender and juicy as well. It has a good amount of marbling, and I just love how it was perfectly cooked!

The meat is so tender that you can easily pierce or cut it with a fork.

The risotto is made with green peas, which contain heart-healthy minerals, including magnesium, potassium, and calcium. Another thing I love about this meal is the cheesy sauce! It complements the meat so well!

Beef & Broccoli Bowl with Garlicky Stir-Fry Sauce. I love flavorful stir fry dishes, and this classic beef and broccoli bowl is no exception.

According to the label, this is a gluten-free dish. It has 400 calories per serving and 55g of carbs.

It’s a classic meal I wouldn’t mind having over and over again. The beef was tender, and I loved the garlicky sauce. To heat this up, just remove the sleeve, peel off a part of the film, and microwave for 3 minutes!

It already includes rice and meat, plus veggies like broccoli and carrots, so it’s filling. It’s savory and reminds me of my favorite takeout fried rice!

Shrimp & Andouille Paella with Roasted Red Peppers. Paella is a popular rice dish in Spain, and it’s an all-in-one dish where you have everything you need to fill your belly. Freshly’s take on this dish didn’t disappoint! It looked so good, and I love how generous they were with the shrimps!

Upon removing the plastic film, I could already smell the blend of spices in this dish, and it became even better while I was heating it up!

I love the blend of flavors and the smokiness that the roasted red peppers added. Each bite was such a delight! The rice was well cooked, and the shrimp didn’t become gummy so it means it was cooked just right.

Escovitch Steak with Jerk Broccoli, Peppers, and Coconut Rice. The Escovitch Steak is actually a twist on the usual Jamaican dish. The steak is lightly seared so it’s bursting with flavor and natural juices! This meal is a Chef’s Special featuring Kwame Onwua. It’s available on Freshly for only a limited time.

I liked the juicy steak, but the best part is the sweet, tart, and spicy flavors of the sauce. The layer of flavors on this dish is amazing.

There was only a small amount of coconut rice, but it was definitely delicious! I also liked the roasted mini sweet peppers and the broccoli.

Chicken Tikka Masala with Seven-Spice Vegetable Biryani. This tikka masala uses juicy chicken thighs and chickpeas for a protein and fiber-rich meal. It also contains tomato, Greek yogurt, and warming spices to make each bite flavorful!

Served with basmati rice, this is such an ideal comfort food after a busy day! This Indian meal already tastes good on its own but they recommend pairing it with homemade raita of Greek yogurt, sliced cucumber, and chopped mint if you want to take it to another level. Freshly’s take on tikka masala is really good! It’s slightly spicy and really creamy, while the chicken remained tender!

Salsa Verde Chicken Enchilada with Mexican-Style Cauli Rice and Refried Beans. For a quick and easy Mexican dinner, here’s a chicken enchilada with a deliciously tangy sauce! The seal is clear so you can take a peek at the meal inside!

It also comes with cauli rice, plus chipotle-spiced refried beans. Yum!

Here’s what the dish looks like after I heated it! I love that the enchilada is really packed. It turned out to be a very filling meal, and I’m really happy with it. It was also nicely seasoned, and I just love the combination of flavors.

These meals are so easy to heat and serve! What’s great about them is that you can transfer them to a plate, and they don’t even look like something that just came out of a box! They were all so flavorful and delicious too!

Is Freshly Worth It?

I love that I was able to try different cuisines this month from Freshly! There are Mexican, Jamaican, Indian, and Spanish meals, along with some American favorites. All the meals were really tasty, and they arrived fresh. I just had to heat them up, then they’re ready for serving. The meats remained tender and the veggies didn’t get soggy. The flavors were on point as well. This is a great subscription if you’re looking for delicious, filling, and quick-to-prepare meals to help get you through busy days. For picky eaters, no worries because the box is highly customizable. You can choose which meals you want to receive from their current selection!
