This month’s Koala Crate theme is DINOSAURS! As always, the box comes with all the supplies needed to create a trio of fun, age-appropriate crafts — plus it has a magazine with extra games and activities!

There are two books that will come in your Koala Crate. imagine! magazine is “a play and learn magazine” made for you and your preschooler to explore together. My son loves it! I like that the instruction booklet is separate from the magazine, so you can preview the activity while your child works on the activities in the booklet.

Imagine! Magazine

Imagine! magazine contains information relevant to the theme so your child learns a bit about the topic while having fun with the craft and play activities. The information is provided in an age-appropriate format and always feels like a game, not schoolwork.

One of KiwiCo’s goals is to equip the next generation of innovators with the tools and confidence for creative exploration and problem-solving.

A fun story introduces your child to the theme of the box. The same group of friendly characters is featured each month, and the familiar faces encourage engagement.

It also introduces us to the idea of fossils, and a fossil hunt!

My kids started to look for the fossils!

The illustrations are animated and engaging. They relate their games to the theme which makes it very exciting for the kids. Just look at those cute dinosaurs!

It’s a fun read, plus it stimulates the children’s minds! It’s definitely one of the best items you can get inside the crate!

Koala Crate Crafts

The instruction booklet is intended for the adult helper and gives detailed instructions for the activity.

It lists all the supplies, the 3 primary activities, the messiness level, and any grownup assistance needed. They also include symbols denoting the developmental skills practiced in doing the activity, such as fine or gross motor skills, creativity, etc.

Everything this month’s box!

Activity No. 1: Clay Fossils. For the first activity, we’re making clay fossils. The crate provided the clay, fossil card, and fossil stickers.

The first step is to put the stickers on to the fossil card.

Split the clay into two, then form into balls.

Stamp both clays using the fossil cards until they flatten out, and the dinosaurs appear on the clay!

Let the clay dry overnight. Here’s the T-Rex!

We made a Triceratops clay fossil too. You can see the difference between the two dinosaurs, one walked on two legs, and the other used four legs!

Activity No. 2: Dino Match Game. For the second activity, it’s time to play a game! We used a spinner, game board, token, and the token pouch.

Punch out the tokens first, then choose a game board.

Use the spinner to select a dinosaur then match a token and place on the gameboard next to the dino. Just keep spinning to until you find the match for all of each dinosaur!

Activity No. 3: Dinosaur Dress Up. It’s time to dress up as a dinosaur! For this activity, the crate provided a dinosaur visor, dinosaur feet, shapes stickers, teeth and horn stickers, elastic, and wiggle eyes.

It’s easy, the kids just need to peel off the stickers and use them to decorate the pieces like the visor and the feet.

The yellow felt triangles are used as designs for the dinosaur’s feet.

The costume is ready!

The dino visor works just like normal visors do. It looks awesome!

My son is happy with his costume!

They dinosaur feet are like big slippers that keep your feet warm!

He’s looking cute with all the dinosaur gear he’s wearing!

Rawr!!!

Koala Crate Extension Activities

Another suggested activity from the booklet is making some cool dino eggs! For this, you can use items from your home, such as dirt, flour, sand, salt, a bowl, a tray, some toy dinosaurs, and water. There are also book suggestions in the Koala Library, which includes The Super Hungry Dinosaur, What The Dinosaurs Did Last Night, and Dinosaur Dig!

Koala Crate is definitely one of our favorite boxes from KiwiCo as they provide us with fun learning and activities!

Rawr! My kids are roaring with laughter and fun as they started exploring this month’s dinosaur themed Koala Crate! They really love these pre-historic creatures so they enjoyed all the activities, as well as the magazine packed with interesting information about dinosaurs. It’s also great that all the materials needed for the activities are already provided in the box, only a few and simple things are needed from home. Preschoolers or even kids of any age will surely love this box! Finishing everything is quite fulfilling and I can tell how happy my kids are as they showcase their finished products!
