nmnl is a monthly Japanese beauty subscription box by the brains behind Tokyo Treat and Yume Twins. They promise to deliver a Japanese beauty experience curated by people familiar with the current trends in Japan.

DEAL: Use coupon code HELLOSUBS at checkout to save 10% ($3.50) on your first box!

The information booklet has information about the products. The booklet has gotten much more in-depth lately, but I still am hoping they begin to include English ingredient lists for the makeup and skincare products.

Pelican Soap ($6.80) — Pelican Soap is a popular brand in Japan, and this is their pearl soap. Pearls produce the collagen our skin desperately needs as we lose it as we age. Ingredients include pearl powder, clay, and marine collagen.

Vess Facial Puff ($4.35) — A soft puff shaped to easily wash the face.

LaDun 3D Print Nail Sheets ($8.50) — How pretty are these lace design nail stickers? The 3D print is eye-catching. There are twenty stickers altogether and a nail file as well to help shape any rough edges.

Vibeke UV Protection Gel ($10.80) — This tube of sunscreen is HUGE. It’s a whopping 200g which is more than triple the size of the tiny bottles I use for my face. This is an unscented sunscreen suitable for the face and body. It’s only SPF30 PA+++, which is lower than what I normally reach for, so I will likely use this for my arms and legs and use my SPF60 for my face. It has a light neutral scent. This sunscreen has gotten really good ratings on Cosme, which is essentially the Japanese version of Sephora.

PRM Trick Mode Sexy Turquoise Palette ($8.90) — A palette with a whopping 18 different shades. They are mostly neutral except for one turquoise colour.

The shades range from mattes to shimmers to metallics. I found the pigmentation to be hit or miss — they are buildable but you definitely need a primer.

Here are the bottom three shades swatched. The mattes are not as buttery as the shimmers.

This month I was able to find accurate and official retail prices for all of the items included in the box, adding up to a value of $39.35 USD. While all of these brands are not familiar to me and I have only known them through nmnl, I like that I was able to find these items on Cosme and even read some (badly translated by Google and my own limited vocab) reviews by Japanese beauty fans. I am THRILLED with the sunscreen due to its huge size — definitely going to make use of this during summer. Last summer nmnl sent a sunscreen that I absolutely loved, and I’m hoping this one works out for me as well. What I also like about the June box is that there was no sheet mask or bath salt included, which while fun are generally items I consider fillers since they are single-use.
