Papirmass is a monthly art print subscription. Each month, you’ll get an art print to satisfy your art and cultural curiosity – delivered right to your doorstep. You’ll never have trouble adding a new art print for your collection since Papirmass is the perfect way to discover new and upcoming great artists. It ships worldwide (with free shipping!) from Canada! Last month, Papirmass mentioned there would be a slight change with their subscription. On top of a Print and an interview with the featured artist of the month, they now include a Creative Card.

Starting this month, the prints will be whipped in custom-printed rigid mailers perfect to protect the print from the awful rainy weather we’ve been plagued with lately. There’s also an invitation to share our personalize print display on social media.

This month’s artist is Scott Listfield, and we received a card with information about the artwork and a short interview with the artist. He paints astronauts wandering around looking at stuff. It is a way to explore the present. I like that! I love anything space inspired and I’m a big fan of sci-fi, so I’m intrigued with this month’s art!

Even if I’m weirded out by the sign painted on the tree, I kinda like this painting! It’s something modern and classic at the same time. But first, I need to find a frame for it. As usual, at the back of the print, all the info is displayed with a display suggestions (this time, a wooden frame with large white matte). I really like this feature as I would have a hard time choosing a frame by myself.

The new feature this month is this little Creative Card with a nice quote on the front, and a challenge on the back. From what I’ve seen on their social media, subscribers will receive different quotes. So… drawing a smiley face using only non-traditional drawing materials. Ok! Challenge accepted!

I’m not good at this game! I used purple seed beads to draw my smiley face!

This is an interesting subscription. Every month is always very different from the previous month and it’s fun to discover new artists. Of course, you only get the print, so you have to find a new frame every month (lucky for me, the craft store nearby offer discounts on frames quite often!) Also, the more I get prints from this subscription, the less I see it as a way to add some decorations around the house. It just doesn’t work for me, because of the eclectic nature of the subscription itself. It’s more about creating a space for arts. A single wall that gets new pieces added to it every month, becoming a conversation piece when guests come over. Or a corner where only some of the prints are shown, and that you can rotate the pieces as you see fit or to flow with the mood. Basically, the prints work together, as an artistic display that the subscribers create.

Now, my problem is to be able to put the name of the artist next to its print, so that I don’t have to look for the info card or take the print out of the frame…

The addition of the creative card is a nice touch, and I wonder what they will come up with in the coming months.
