O’soy Evergreen Forest Soy Candle ($38) I didn’t see this candle scent at O’SOY Candles but the largest candle they sell is 12 ounces for $34. Evergreen Forest has notes that indeed sound like they come from a green serene space, or possibly a Christmas tree lot: Douglas fir, Fraser fir, cypress, and cedar-wood. It also smells a touch sweet, and maybe there’s a whiff of vanilla in the mix? The burn time for this candle is around 80 hours and it has a pretty decent hot throw, and smelled just a good when burning.
Vella & Co Scent Note Playing Cards ($14) My party trick is that I can shuffle cards like I work in a casino. I’ve received branded cards in subscription boxes before but I’ve not been impressed, they have had weird pictures that made it hard to play easily, but this set is the exception. These are illustrated beautifully with scent notes that one might find in a candle (or perfume for that matter) and each suit has what I would call a mantra.
Even though it’s unseasonably warm here in Austin, my home still smells like the holidays thanks to the O’Soy candle I received in my December Vellabox! I have an artificial Christmas tree so it’s nice to get that evergreen scent going through my living room courtesy of this candle. I placed it on the other side of the room for burning and once the a/c kicked on it pushed the scent over to my area and I was quite pleased with that. I was also excited to receive a beautiful new deck of cards, I’m pretty sure the only deck I have around here was from a casino and I haven’t been to Vegas for at least 20 years.
