Living Proof Scalp Care Dry Scalp Treatment ($38) I used to have bad scalp issues (I ended up needing a biopsy it was so bad) but once I switched to a non-fragranced shampoo and conditioner my scalp finally started healing. Obviously it could have been something else in those products that I was sensitive to, but I avoid fragrance there anyways. This scalp treatment product has added fragrance and since I no longer have a dry scalp, I’m going to pass it along because if it’s not broke etc. Some things that this product offers is a slim tip for easy application, hyaluronic acid for dryness relief, and niacinamide. It’s supposed to be applied to a clean, damp scalp three times a week and this is a leave-in product meant to reduce itchiness and irritation. It’s smells like a floral perfume.
Vit C Rodial Papaya Enzyme Scrub ($50) is supposed to minimize pores while making our faces look bright. It says it’s gel-to-oil but I never felt any oiliness to it at all. You’re supposed to apply it to clean, damp skin and then let it sit for a few minutes to give the enzymes time to break down dead skin cells. Then massage it in to give the beads time to manually remove those dead skin cells before rinsing it all off. My problem is that it dried up before I had a chance to scrub, so I just added more water before rinsing. It smells very nice, but that’s is due to added fragrance. Some of the ingredients in here are hyaluronic acid, jojoba oil, perlite, and papaya ferment extract.
NATASHA DENONA Rose & Wood Eyeshadow Palette ($48) From what I can tell, these five shades are from the Glam Eyeshadow Palette, and while Sephora sells a mini, it doesn’t have the same shades, and when pricing this out by the gram, it’s worth about $35 vs the $27 the other palette is selling for. Anyways, I’ve been doing a slightly more glamorous eye look lately and I must say, I really liked this palette! Sure, four of the five shades are shimmers but they all worked so well together. They were a breeze to apply, had very little fall out, and stayed on all day, what’s not to love? Swatched below.
LYS Beauty Speak Love Moisture Matte Lipstick in Desired ($14) I received this lipstick in last month’s Icon Box, but it was in a different shade (Sincere). Now I’ve received Desired, which is described as reddish brown. It’s called a matte lipstick, but it doesn’t dry down all the way, which means my lips felt soft, but then there’s transfer. I just bought Cloud Paint from Glossier and this color matches my new blush perfectly. I like the slim case, and application is easy, especially since I have small lips. Swatched below.
Well People Expressionist Pro Mascara ($20) I like the brand Well People and when I think of a no-makeup look, they come to mind. This mascara is supposed to define and lengthen and I must say, I didn’t see much of a difference when I applied it to my lashes. I ended up using a different brand for a third coat since the first two were just ok. I think this is fine for a natural or everyday look, but try something else if you want to go bolder.

Swatched on top is LYS Beauty Moisture Matte Lipstick in Desired, followed by all five shades of the Natasha Denona Rose & Wood Eyeshadow Palette.

I think my BoxyCharm by Ipsy products for December were joyful, or a least fun to use. The only product I couldn’t use was the scalp soother, because I’m afraid it might do the opposite but that’s just me and my sensitive skin. I thought the Rodial Vit C scrub was gentle on my skin and I liked the soft scrubbers within the gel. The rest of the items were makeup and I was pretty pleased with all of them! I’ve used the Natasha Denona Eyeshadow Palette several times, the colors are perfect for my desired makeup looks. The Well People Mascara is just what I need for day-to-day use. I thought it was funny that the LYS Beauty Lipstick matched my brand new blush, and it’s a great shade for winter. The value for my box assortment was around $170!
