The theme for the November Simply Earth Essential Oil Box was Gift Giving and inside I found recipes and supplies to help me make natural bath and beauty products that I can use or that I can gift to others this holiday season. Some of the projects were a silky lip balm, a sugar scrub to use in the shower, and more. Simply Earth aims to help teach subscribers how to make their own beauty products and cleaning items. Simply Earth sends four essential oils each month, usually three single ingredient bottles and one blend. Here are the oils for November:
Balsam Fir Essential Oil ($13.99) Balsam Fir smells like a walk through a forest and it’s one of the most popular options for Christmas trees. It’s deodorizing, uplifting, and soothing to the joints (when mixed with a carrier oil and applied topically).
Coffee Essential Oil ($14.99) It’s no surprise that this oil smells like freshly brewed coffee! This oil can help improve the appearance of the skin, it deodorizes, and of course, it smells uplifting.
Liquid Luck Essential Oil ($13.99) Liquid Luck is our blend of the month and I am currently using it on my passive diffuser, and it smells amazing of course. It’s a blend of sweet orange, cassia, amyris, and ho wood essential oils and the cassia comes through strong, it’s the holidays in an oil! It’s supposed to help one feel centered and uplifted, and it would work great in a home cleaner recipe, just imagine how good the home would smell afterwards!
Mandarin Essential Oil ($14.99) A mandarin is a type of citrus fruit similar to a tangerine so it’s a wonderfully bright scent. Diffuse this scent to help relieve stress or mix it with a carrier oil to massage into tense muscles.

Bath Salt Soak ($4.99), Cosmetic Tin Container ($1.50), and Rose Red Mica Powder ($2.99) are the bonus items that were sent in November’s box to help complete some of the projects. There may be some other ingredients or containers that are needed for some of the projects so if you don’t have them in the home you may need to order from either Simply Earth or Amazon.

I received a prescored sticker sheet so I can label my EO bottles and finished projects.

Every month we receive six recipe cards with instructions on how to complete each project. You can also check out Simply Earth’s YouTube page to see videos of the projects being made!

Some of the recipe cards have additional information on the back, like what’s coming next month or a bit about the current box.
Below are a few of the projects that I completed with this month’s essential oils and extras!

I followed the directions on the recipe card and placed the listed drops into my diffuser to create the Mulled Cider Diffuser Blend. You can also make a bigger batch by following the directions lower on the card, just mix them up in the 5ml amber bottle found in your Big Bonus Box. This scent was fine, I think there was something in it that I wasn’t a fan of but after a while I guess that top note went away and I had a warm scent in my living room.

Each month I look forward to making the rollerball recipe and for November I made an Espresso Yourself Roll-on. Once again I raided the Big Bonus Box to grab a 10ml glass roller bottle and fractionated (liquid) coconut oil, along with three of the essential oils sent in the November box. Just place the drops into the rollerball container, give them a little swirl, then top with coconut oil. Place the rollerball on top (push it in all the way) and make sure to label the bottle.

I gave the bottle one more good shake and now I have an uplifting natural fragrance! I roll it over my wrists from time to time but it’s especially nice when you want a sniff of something peppy.

The final recipe that I attempted was the Holly Jolly Lip Balm. Let me tell you something — it takes hardly any effort at all to make your own lip balm!

Following the recipe card I placed the solid coconut oil, almond oil, and beeswax (all from the Big Bonus Box) into a small glass dish and placed it in the microwave, stirring after 20 seconds. It took maybe one minute total before all of the beeswax was melted. Next I stirred in a couple of drops of essential oil and then I carefully added the rose red mica powder (I didn’t want to spill it, that stuff makes a mess).
I poured the mixture into the container that came with my Monthly Recipe Box and then all I had to do was wait for it to dry. Make sure to wipe out the glass container with a paper towel before washing because you don’t want the coconut oil to get into your plumbing pipes. Then I placed the label on the bottom of the container because I didn’t want to cover the logo on the lid. That’s it, that’s all I had to do to make my own lip balm! I could start my own lip balm company now. I added a little extra mica powder but still the tint is barely there but if you wanted to make this for someone who doesn’t want any color at all then just leave it out. This stuff makes my lips feel super silky.
I still have three other recipes left and they sound like they would make great gifts.
Simply Earth comes up with easy-to-follow recipes each month and they make it easy to learn how to safely use essential oils. The November Gift Giving Box lived up to its name with projects that can be shared with friends and family members. I was especially impressed with how simple it was to make my own lip balm, I thought the results were better than I expected. The rollerball blend also was a hit, while the diffuser blend took a while for me to enjoy it.
