This month kicks off with the Olay Cleansing Melts ($4.99), a water-activated facial cleanser. You just soak the cleansing pad in your palms until it disappears, then rub your hands together to create a creamy lather. It effortlessly lifts away makeup and the day’s buildup, leaving my skin clean without any tightness or discomfort. The soft citrus scent adds a pleasant touch without being overpowering, making the whole experience a refreshing way to wind down at the end of the day.

Lip care often gets overlooked, but I’m trying to make it more of a priority, especially as the weather gets colder. The Florence By Mills Hit Snooze Lip Mask ($17) is designed for overnight use, but I found myself reaching for it throughout the day as well. It has a jelly-like formula but it’s not sticky, and in the morning, my lips felt soft and well-moisturized—exactly what I need to combat fall’s dry air. I appreciated that it only took a small amount to get the job done. The inclusion of squalane and apricot kernel oil gives it an edge, but I wonder if those with super dry lips might need to layer it for even more hydration.

Next is the Malin + Goetz Dark Rum Perfume Oil ($36), which offers unique blend of bergamot, plum, and dark rum. The scent is strong right out of the bottle—definitely on the bold, spicy side—but once it settles, it becomes a warm, cozy aroma that’s perfect for fall evenings. Personally, I love how it mellows over the day, softening into a comforting scent that’s both earthy and a little sweet. The rum and leather notes add depth that makes it different from most fragrances I own. However, if you’re someone who prefers lighter, fresher scents, this might be too much. I appreciate that it feels like an intentional choice for fall—a scent that makes a statement.

The Belif Aqua Bomb Eye Gel ($10.67) couldn’t have arrived at a better time—my eyes always need a little extra help with the darker mornings and shorter days of fall. The ceramic tip applicator feels fantastic, especially on mornings when I need an extra boost to wake up. Formulated with caffeine, hyaluronic acid, and niacinamide, the gel itself is lightweight and absorbs quickly, which makes it perfect for use under makeup without any pilling. It’s a refreshing way to start the day, especially when my eyes are feeling tired.

The Skin & Co Sicilian Light Serum ($60) has the kind of rich, creamy texture that makes it feel instantly luxurious. Blended with over 22 botanical super-ingredients, it feels like a spa treatment in a bottle, which makes it a treat to use during my morning and nighttime routines. I love the idea that it’s targeting dark spots and dull skin—concerns I’m definitely seeing more of as I get older. While I didn’t notice dramatic changes immediately, it does make my skin hydrated, which is key as fall weather tends to dry things out.

Sometimes simple is best, and Curology Gentle Cleanser ($12) really embodies that. It’s a lightly foaming gel that’s great for all skin types, and I particularly like that it’s gentle enough for sensitive skin, thanks to the glycerin and oat extract. It doesn’t have any fancy extras, but it’s effective at what it does—removing dirt and excess oil without stripping my skin. I’ve been using it as a morning cleanse, and it’s just the right level of clean for starting my day without any tightness. It’s nice to have a cleanser that’s dependable, especially as my skin gets more finicky with the changing seasons.

The Olehenriksen Glow2OH 7% AHA Exfoliating Dark Spot Toner ($35) packs a punch with its 7% AHA formula, and it’s definitely a powerhouse when it comes to exfoliation. The mix of witch hazel and licorice root is great for clarifying the skin, but it does feel stronger than some toners I’ve used in the past. If you have sensitive skin, this might be one to ease into slowly. The lemon sugar scent makes it feel less clinical, which I appreciated, and I love that it preps my skin perfectly for serum and moisturizer. It’s not something I’d use every day, but a couple of times a week, it’s ideal for keeping dullness away.

As someone who loves hair care, I was excited to try the Mielle Rosemary Mint Clarifying Sugar Scalp Scrub ($9.97). The mint invigorates the scalp, and the sugar crystals exfoliates well, but I had to be careful to apply with a gentle hand. I used it as a pre-shampoo treatment, and it did a great job of clearing out product buildup without drying out my scalp. I especially appreciated how clean my roots felt afterward—kind of like a reset for my hair routine. It’s a great addition when I feel like my scalp needs a little extra attention, though it’s not something I’d use every wash, given how strong the exfoliation can be.

I received three flavors of the Liquid I.V. Hydration Multiplier Electrolyte Drink Mix ($5.81): green grape, lemon lime, and white peach. This mix is a convenient way to replenish electrolytes without added sugar or artificial ingredients, which I appreciate. Among the flavors, the lemon lime stood out to me for its light and refreshing taste. These are perfect for anyone with an active lifestyle or anyone looking for an extra hydration boost after a workout.

Overall, the Allure Beauty Box for October 2024 brought together a great mix of fall essentials—hydrating products for the lips and skin, a refreshing cleanser, and even a bold fragrance that perfectly suits the season. Each item felt thoughtfully chosen, like the editors were gearing us up to feel comfortable, pampered, and ready to take on fall with confidence. I particularly enjoyed how varied the selection was, covering everything from skincare to hair care, and even something to keep me hydrated. However, I think adding in a bit more makeup—maybe a bold lip or an eyeshadow that speaks to the rich, warm colors of fall—could have made this box feel even more complete. Still, it’s a solid selection that provides a little bit of everything you need for those cooler days, keeping your skin and spirit in top shape as we move deeper into fall.

Thank you for your review. The Ole Henrikksen product is what kept me from skipping. I’ll also enjoy the Curology, the Belif and the Skin & Co serum. So a pretty good value just in those four. But I’m less than thrilled about getting a rollerball perfume again that I didn’t like the first time. We just received it in July. I don’t like any of these stinky oils – By Rosie Jane and Malin and Goetz. I would love to see more high quality sprays, like Poets of Berlin.
